We've gotta go back!

If you and Ainge had one chance to make a realistic change to one of our recent draft selections what would it be? And how do you think it would change our past, present and future?

In the 2012 Draft, instead of picking Sullinger and Fab Melo  ::) you and Danny could have go back to suggest picking Crowder, Khris Middleton or Draymond Green!

Here's some other options:

2011 Daft actual pick: Johnson, Moore        Options: Butler, Parsons, Isaiah Thomas
2013 Draft actual pick: Olynyk                   Options: Muhammad, Antetokounmpo, Schröder, Gobert
2014 Draft actual pick: Smart, Young          Options: Randle, Payton, McDermott, Šarić, LaVine, Kyle Anderson

Giannis over KO.

I think that'd be mine too but I don't things would be much different, we'd be pretty much in the same position we are in now, Giannis is a 3-4 year project before he begins to dominate if he can get a consistent 3 point shot, he can be an unstoppable force, if i was him i'd be working on that skyhook with Kareem too.

well, if you're targeting those drafts and skipping 2012, I'd understand Parsons over JJ in 2011 because they were supposedly interested in Parsons.  In 2013, he supposedly liked KO a lot but I would have preferred Dieng who was a realistic option at that time.  2014 -- Hood over Young.  I'd still take Smart over those who were picked later.

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
2007 second round: Marc Gasol over Gabe Pruitt.

There was pretty much a super-consensus around here pushing for Marc...same with DeAndre. I'm hoping we don't have the same conversation in a couple of years with Rozier over Portis.

In the recent past, I guess you just have to go with the best player - that would be Butler or Green, I guess.

I don't remember a strong consensus for Marc Gasol back then.  i do remember wanting DeAndre Jordan, though.

Ya I remember D. Jordan., also Asik was right there and he would have helped a lot.

But ya, we could have been almost unstoppable with Gasol. Perk and Gasol could def handle the center position and then Gasol would have proved he was more capable but Perk would have helped as a backup/ incase of injuries.

Rondo
Allen
Pierce
KG
Marc Gasol/Perk

That team may have won 70 games and 2-3 more rings....we may have won 70ish in the 2nd year if KG's knee never happened.

Things would be a hell of a lot different.

Giannis was and is considered a top prospect and he could net us someone like cousins much much more easily if we had him.

Also he took and made more 3's his rookie year and I believe he has that in him but for whatever reason, team/chemistry/youth, he is not shooting the 3 half as much as his rookie season.

Don't forget the new hybrid players in the NBA. They're long, can shoot, run, play and defend multiple positions etc.

Hybrid players that remind scouts of Giannis:
1)Durant

Some other players that have similar bodies and possible potential, on the top of my head:
Brandon Ingram(could play sg, at least when he first is in the league bc of age)
Bruno Caboclo
