Okay, the Cavs are good and the Celtics couldn't have beaten a D-League team shooting a crummy 32% but what kind of message are the officials sending when they show you, early in the game, that Lebron has free reign to get away with anything he wants. the guy cries like a spoiled little kid ad the refs hand him the game ball, what a joke. I am in no way using this as an excuse the C's lost. the Celtics lost because they didn't put the ball in the hole and they had enough good shots to win this game. Cleveland's defense was not that good, they won by slowing the game down and Boston not shooting well and there's your loss.
At any rate something has to be done about the officiating because it's ruining the game IMO.

Tommy agrees with you.

“Well, LeBron started cryin’ about four possessions ago and he’s done it twice without a handkerchief!”

“LeBron is givin’ it the ol’ ‘I’m the king! You’re making a jester out of me!'”

“Well it’s the great LeBron. We’re not fouling him out. Well he’ll get like 12 fouls in a game.”

“AFTER WHAT LeBRON HAS BEEN DOING TO EVERYBODY, THEY CALL THAT????

“He’s a crybaby, isn’t he? (laughter) Wow!”

As great as Lebron is, I have a tough time watching him because of the favoritism he receives from the refs and his attitude about it.

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
Their defense was awesome...Lebron whined a bit but so did Crowder, IT, Jerebko....

They were much better than us and they have two of the best players in the world on their team.

We defintely got away with some fouls on Lebron and Lebron got away with a few too.

At the end of the day we couldn't get transition baskets or force as many turnovers as we would have liked because they take care of the ball and defend extremely well....
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

Last night showed our need for a legitimate star. On  any given night, bradley or IT or KO or Turner can have a good game. But on a night when everyone is ice  cold we had nowhere to go.

It has been his career pretty much, but I would add his has a lot of talent too.   The NBA has always helped their stars, which is shameful, call it the same way for everyone.   But think of all the marketing dollars spent promoting the stars, they are going to protect their investment.

CLE has IT's number.   They put length on him and bully him.

Can Spor**** or some other fancy web site please keep track of whining and complaining?!

Would love to see some hard data on this!

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
I am not going to make a claim either way about the officiating because the Cavs had more fouls called on them: 17-11, but that call on Crowder where he was simply just guarding Lebron out on the wing was one of the more egregious calls I have seen in a while - he just didn't do anything differently than what he was already doing and then a foul was randomly called.

it was aggravating but it's no different than any other game Lebron plays.  I'm surprised they called as much on him as they did.

I usually think Tommy is overly bias whenever he calls game, but this time, I think he is very spot on. The obvious two that p---ed me off was

1. His moving screen...IT WAS SO OBVIOUS, HOW DID THEY MISS THAT!!! he literally, ran into our guys...no call

2. The bogus call against Jae Crowder during the post...I didn't see no handchecks, Crowder was just defending him in the post and just pushing back...

Coming into the second half you could see the Cavs defense really step it up. In that second half they played really good, aggressive D. They attacked us at our soft underbelly, the middle, the center position.

In general, the C's play well when it's a game of small ball, a running game, but when it changes to a game of slow down, grind it out, and the opposing team puts the ball in the hands of their power players, the Celtics just don't have the horses. We have no center, no player 6-11, 280, with length, and the ability to score and control the paint. Many teams have several.

Besides this, the Celtics are missing some obvious pieces, one being another scorer or two that can create his own shot. It's time to take the next step, we need a trade.

On the subject of the refs, the NBA needs to somehow review games, and the calls made by the Refs. Maybe at the formal request of the coaches. Refs need to be censured for the questionable, or obviously bad calls. The player arguing... the intimidating by players needs to end. Just like in baseball, arguing gets you immediately tossed. Leave the arguing to the coaches, and at the proper time. Players like Labron would simply have to shut-up and play, or sit.

I definitely agree that it's past due we make a trade for a shooter because when this team goes cold it's really ugggggly.
I also think it's time to lose Jerebko, besides being in a funk he seems to have lost his intensity.

This is nothing new—for Tommy or for LeBron.

Tommy bleeds green; always has, always will, and I love that about him.

LeBron has been the league-(and self-)annointed chosen one since he was in high school. He has loads of talent, of course, but the NBA will always protect its binkies. Which is why Boston probably needs one.

I definitely agree that it's past due we make a trade for a shooter because when this team goes cold it's really ugggggly.

Jerebko's one of my favorites, so I'd hate to see him go. He's been in a shooting slump, but I think it's hard for shooters to find much rhythm when they're getting fewer than 3 attempts per game. If Jerebko were shooting as many times as, say, Crowder—nearly 10 a game—it might be a different story (and I don't like Crowder shooting that many times).

I've always had difficulty with how much LBJ gets away with. Complaining about calls doesn't bother me as many players do, though it can get annoying. Getting ridiculous calls and non-calls from the refs does.

Everyone see it, yet it still goes on
