  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
Lopez leaves the game today vs the Bucks with a sore foot.
They lose again and are now 0 wins 7 losses.

Their schedule for the next 12 games
Next 12 games for the Nets:

@ Rockets  L
@ Kings (Cousins likely back) W
@ Warriors L
vs Hawks L
@ Hornets W
@ Celtics W (being very nice and giving them a fluke win somewhere)
vs Celtics L
@ Thunder
L@ Cavaliers L
vs Pistons L
vs Suns W
@ Knicks W

Predictions during this stretch??

maybe 3W 9L? putting them at 3W and 16L for the season as teams approach 20 games.

We were all hoping for a serious look at a top 3 pick.
We could get a really serious look at the number one pick in the 2016 draft.

If they go 4 wins and 9 losses over the next 13 games, they'll be on track for 16-18 wins for the season. And that's assuming Lopez can play those games.

If they somehow beat us and then Phoenix and New York they'll get 5 wins, and they'll be on track for 20-22 wins this year.

The Magic, Hornets, Pistons, Knicks all look better than the Nets.
If Lopez' foot gets so bad before the All Star break that he has to miss 10+ games, they may even be worse than Philly.
Wow.

I could see a fluke win or 2, but they aren't favored in a game until December 12th against the 76er's. Also factor in the more they lose the more it's going to start snowballing

That is way too optimistic for the Nets. I seriously believe they won't win any of those games.

Right now as they currently stand with Lopez, the Nets are arguably the worst team in the league.

If Lopez's foot injury puts him out, they are indisputably THE WORST team in the league.

The thing is, they are falling into Philadelphia territory in that they are establishing a culture of losing. The thing about losing constantly is, it destroys your confidence. Your players lose motivation to want to play hard when they feel hopeless. If the Nets become this hopeless this early, then they'll get rid of the only guys they have that could get back some value, and hence, their season goes further and further down the drain.

All in all, if you think the Nets are bad now, just wait. It's going to get much worse, and not just this year, but for the next three years.

I find it hard to believe that both the C's and the Kings (with or without Cousins) would lose to the Nets, and I honestly think the Hornets and Knicks should be favored pretty heavily against the Nets, too. Against the Suns at home might be the only one I'd consider 50/50 at the best odds for them, but I would still pick the Suns to win over the Nets. Also, if the Pistons come back down to Earth a bit, they might have a chance to steal that game, too. Really, I don't see them being any better than 2-18 at the 20 game mark, and that's being optimistic with them "stealing" one or two games.

While there is no value for the Nets in losing so many games, a kind of 'tank' without a dividend (for them), they also have little chance of trying to attract players in free trade. Who would want to bank their future on a team with so little to offer? Strange things happen in sport and you should never count your chickens (before they hatch) but this pick is looking very good and, either as a pick or trade chip, will help show if DA's strategy and patience will pay off.

And we own the Nets first round picks in the next three drafts.

Danny's always going to try and trade that pick for a current top 10 player. Unless he thinks someone is a generational player in the draft like Davis, Durant, Lebron, Duncan etc I don't think drafting would usually be his first option.

He does like to dabble though and I could definitely see him trading a top 3 pick down for something like the #4 pick+young elite player. The example used in another thread was:
Celtics get pick #2 from the Nets
Philly get's #3 or #4 and really wants #2.
They send us Noel + the #4 pick.

Going to be lots of options.

From the Nets forums on RealGM from Net's forum poster named 'Hello Brooklyn':
LOL. So were going to be a bottom 5 team in the NBA and compete for the #1 pick. This is a nightmare. Worst season in Nets history.

They seem to think he'll sit out at least a week with this foot scare. Now that would be great.
