Not liking what I'm hearing from Sullinger, sounds like he still doesn't get it.
Right off the bat they ask him about his weight and if he's where he wants to be, he says no, and then seems to make excuses and trying to talk around it, outright refuses to answer the question of how much weight he's lost.
Talking about his workout program with John Lucas, he says it was a lot of fun, he had a lot of fun down there.
Asked about his expectations, says he doesn't have any, never sets personal goals for himself.
Asked if he raised expectations of the fans by saying he was going to come back a beast. Laughed it off, acting like he never said that. (Did he? I dunno).
To me, these were answers by someone who didn't do their homework/assignment and didn't work as hard as they could have. You haven't been getting the grades, but you promise your teacher you're going to study all weekend. Maybe you actually studied for an hour or even two, but you know you didn't study that much. So your teacher asks you on Monday if you're prepared for the test, and instead of answering with a confident yes, you say give some pseudo-philosophical reply of "can you ever really be prepared for a test?" Didn't you say you were going to study non-stop all weekend? "Ha, did I say that, I don't know where you heard that from." Then the teacher asks to see your outline for your big paper that's almost due to see how you're coming along with it, and you reply with "oh I don't make outlines." But how do you expect to get a good grade on this paper without starting with an outline, the teacher asks? You respond with that you're just worried about passing the class and don't focus on the individual assignments/tests.
These were simple questions:
Are you where you want to be shape-wise? Yes.
How much weight have you lost? 30 pounds.
What are your personal goals? Stay under 260lbs. Be able to play all 82 games, 40 minutes per night if Coach needs me. Improve X, Y, and Z areas of my game.
And I got to think if you describe your summer workout regimen as a lot of fun, you're not doing it right.
Just an interview, I know, but don't like what I heard.
