well we got evan, and we got perry anybody for anthony bennett-expectations of a number one like bennett and bust label must be huge on a young guy-
statisticly can these guys be rescued by new enviornment even after like evan/bennet a couple of trades-
if you can't get in lottery is ths a profitable endeavor for a young team like celts with patient coach  to me  a bust can be only a designation against draft position and expectations-
jerebko did well as a rookie but had acl and got buried ,he could come back with full year even better-an ainge bargain box goodie
i'm all for keeping an eye on wcs,if he gets in a horrible position and doesn't produce will they take a couple picks or picks and a player,
how about noah vonlea and bennet could be as good as julius randle, clint capella another big that was d leagued-crowder was resued from obscurity another danny goodie
some gm's might feel rescued  with pics  and a throw in from the bust labels

Personally, I would not touch Bennett with a ten foot pole.   He has been a bust and has had eating problems just like Sully.  Now he has lost some weight.

But you have to wonder, with a guy's livelihood depending on it, why they eat themselves to the point where they can't play, about their judgement.  We have a guy with some talent who was very similar in outlook.

Here is a thread created by LarBrd33 a few weeks back about Anthony Bennett that might be of some interest

If you're talking about getting guys who weren't selected or whatever, the last two years have actually yielded a ton of very talented undrafted free agents, especially this past draft, and yet we didn't look into any of them. *facepalm* I'm not saying that we're going to find our next franchise player this way, but the bottom line is that we need all the talent we can get, and Danny should be leaving no stone unturned, imo.

  • No no no, not THAT "Eric M Van".

Does anyone know numbers and/or names of the Celtics overseas scouting staff? I  was poking around the other day trying to see if there was one of those "top 10 guys" lists that were for player never drafted but eligible to be that are so popular.

Folks may laugh but I still believe Vitor Faverani could actually be a legit player in this league and I have to believe there are a few more guys of his ilk (without the baggage) floating around in the Euro's somewhere that nobody ever laid their draft mitts on.

Obviously the "best" thing to do with the wealth of second round picks is to bundle them for trades or use as sweeteners in deals but as a last resort, mining some hidden gems already playing at a "high" level is an interesting thought along with having picks to ship over thatta way....wouldn't it have been nice to have Holmes under control and stashed away in yabbadabbadostein or some odd ball place and not counting against the roster.

Another question, what's the rule on these types. Are they a teams property to stash as long as they've just never been on the actual 15 man roster? Can a second rounder just not sign and go play in the d-league and still remain "property of the club that picked them as long as they don't sign an NBA contract? Do they have to go overseas? Does it have to be a Hustis-like contract....he's being partially paid by OKC isn't he or wasn't he?

"Because there are no fours."

"We're going to turn this team around 360 degrees."

What makes you think Danny and his scouting staff are leaving stones unturned?  Young guys are out of the league for a variety of reasons and not all basketball-related. Some don't have the right mindset for the NBA game, some get in trouble with the law, or can't get along with teammates, or don't have the right work ethic. They may have all the talent in the world, but I am glad DA and his staff are staying away from bad apples.

I believe that Boston only has one international scout ::), but you'd have to check their website to be sure.  What makes it even worse is that Ainge only has Kevin Eastman's son and some guy who played in college for college scouts, in addition to Austin Ainge, of course ::). Great (sarcasm) ::).

Also, Dave Lewin, the director of scouting, strongly advocated for KO in 2013 after seeing him play at a tournament (woo) ::). *facepalm* Mike Zarren and a couple of analytics guys are in on the draft, as well, but I really think that we need a whole new team of scouts, quite honestly, and not one based on familial ties ;). Ugh.
