Lee for Wallace was a bargain. But yeah, if they stay overstocked on bigs and only play their young ones 15 minutes, that won't be good.

I'm believing that David Lee will end up being one of the biggest acquisitions in the NBA this season.

He's a former All-Star, just two years removed from it. His non-All star year (2013-14) he maintained his PPG and other stats but dropped off in rebounding to "just" 9.3, (from his 11+ rpg ASG year prior 2012-13).

I can (IMO) attribute his "drop" in rpg was due to 3 less mpg (over 36 mpg in ASG year), and/or the emergence of Draymond and the rest of the team improving, in 2013-14.

Last year he had the unfortunate injury which gave Draymond an extended opportunity.

David Lee will earn major minutes this year...I really believe that. I also expect Sully to have a great year, too. There are lack of minutes in this competition, but that is GREAT for the team, in that these two can push one another.

Great move by Ainge. Barring any major injuries BOS will be spoken of highly later on next year.

Lee and Amir are on 1 year deals this gives the chance for our young bigs show they have made progress which we all hope but can not assume.

Honestly I think it'll be nice for guys like KO and Sully to have to compete for minutes. They're vets at this point, and if they can't earn rotation minutes competing against other decent NBA players, they don't need to be part of our future and we can move on. Or, they will just have to deal with the fact that they are most likely career backups.

The tricky thing will be what to do if either KO or Sully is tearing it up in limited minutes. But I think Stevens seems pretty good at handling things like that. And Lee demonstrated last year that he's a pro when it comes to a handling a reduced role.

Add in the inevitable injuries that take place over any season, and a lot of this may become a non-issue.

Bringing in see guys for one year is awesome. The young guys actually have good NBA players to bea out for minutes, or at least will have to distinguish themselves among their peers to earn playing time.

No more screwing around.

This is in an assumption that we will still have Sully/KO/Lee for the whole season. There could be a chance that Sully or KO are gone by the start of the season.

Lee is hear for two reasons.

1. He needs to show case himself for his next contract. Unless Green gets injured he's not going to get much time. If Lee is full back to were he was a year ago, he's better than Sully and KO which means playing time.

2.DA wants good Vets to show how to be team players and lead, even for a short time. Big issue with young teams is the lack of Vets and leadership. Lee brings this. He shows he's a good leader and can come off the bench he'll get a nice contract from a contending team. which connects to reason one.

Lee new the situation when he agreed to the traded, I would be surprised if he got all butt hurt for lack of playing time.

Lee also falls into Stevens system of guys he can use in multiple positions. And thats how guys get playing time since he likes to play a lot of guys hockey style, switching lines keeping guys fresh till the end. And since Lee has played a lot of center he fits right in.

He was a pro when he was sitting for guys who were clearly better for the team than he was, and was on the best team in the league. If we start guys over him based on potential, he's got to be mad, especially if we are just a middling team.

No doubt about it, the C's are going to have some unhappy bigs as this team stands right now. Even if you count Amir as a center only (which you shouldn't), we still have too many power forwards to keep everyone happy with their minutes. Sully in his contract year is not gonna be happy sharing minutes with Lee, JJ, KO, Mikey, and possibly Perry. If I'm not wrong, Lee is in a contract year too. ::)

You don't want a team that is unhappy and bitter demanding trades.

We need a trade.

Lee didn't agree to anything. He got traded whether he wanted to or not.  It's not like he had a no trade clause.

It's going to be interesting how this all plays out.  I wouldn't be surprised if Zeller is squeezed out of the rotation for now.  I also don't know how Jonas is going to get playing time at the 3 or 4 position.

How does Zeller get squeezed out when he is the only true center of the lot.

+1

Don't get why everyone is sleeping on 25 year old Zeller either. In 21mpg he shot 55%fg and 82%ft. Had 5.7 rebs per and over 10pts. He had a + Ast to TO ratio as well. Though I am not a big per 36min guy if he could keep same production up he would be a 17/10 guy that is better than AJ and Lee in both categories. He is the C's starting center and I'd extend him right now for 8 million per if I could.
