once danny couldn't trade up did they have this option on their board
if danny was thinking well ahead of fans, did he draft rozier knowing he would need time to become a point guard and to improve his shooting?,did he assume rj defense would take time and have to bulk up, in rj's case did they underestimate his passing and ability to play man?
-his agility drill was impressive and basketball iq a given-
ainge has kept options wide open, while the only players that danny without a trade is forced to waive is perry or young
,also maybe somebody would trade a draft pick for either as it gets closer to pre season-
i tried to backtrack perry's career to tulsa 66ers and it was crazy how little playing time perry got and his production was abysmal-
dwight powell was scoring in 30's several times along with rebounding on his stint with red claws - that is a huge red flag on perry ,
was he sulking , injured or saving his knees-

Maybe?

If I'm correct, Thornton was picked in the second round knowing he would more than likely play overseas. I have little doubt that Hunter will earn rotation minutes and apparently Brad Stevens was enamored by Rozier's workouts with the Cs, hence his high selection. I guess those who worked out Mickey thought he'd go first round so the Celtics were lucky enough to nab him when they could.

But no...I don't really think Danny is trading players solely to send them to the D League.

Similarly, I don't read into D League stats AT ALL. Fab Melo had some awe-inspiring D League performances and close to zero real NBA production. Good players feast on D League competition. No reason for me to really value D. Powell's games there as compared to PJ3's.

Not sure what the Red Claws have to do with anything draft wise, particularly with 1st rounders and early 2nd rounders.

he drafted for no immediate impact when he couldn't get winslow and he had players in mind for free agency to fill roster spots-he said he almost bought a 4th,
trying to figure what danny is up to and what he next step will be is byzantine- not till the weekend is over do i think he's finished-i just do not believe amir and david lee happened  without preparation- prry jones was timing and capitalizing

The question is no, he drafted what he thought what was best at 16, 28 & 33.
Each guy would get their chance to prove themselves in training camp, preseason, regular season and what they do with what little minutes they may get will determine their playing time.

The Celtics barely practice during the season, we mainly use the red claws for the rookies to get a few workouts in/games under them.

Not moving up is not really a factor in this, Justise Winslow won't have that high an impact in Miami this season. He'll have a decent rookie season.  I don't equate playing time with impact/readiness either.

Some teams let the rookies get all the minutes to accelerate their development and others don't guarantee any mins unless it is earned (like us).

You can't afford to draft anyone other than the best player, regardless of position.  Anything else is just dumb.

I am pretty sure NBA DL is a farm league for the NBA and not vice versa.

Not drafting Winslow wasn't Danny's choice (depending on who you ask), it was Charlotte's. If they accepted our offer Winslow would be a Celtic and likely our own draft selection after conferring all/most of this year's picks to Charlotte. Now, some say that the Celtics themselves may have gotten cold feet towards the final minutes of talks with Charlotte but whatever. We didn't get Winslow regardless but not for OUR lack of trying.

I mean, in the sense that all of the guys we drafted (other than Marcus Thornton) will be spending most of the upcoming season (and probably portions of next season) in the D-League, yes.
You’ll have to excuse my lengthiness—the reason I dread writing letters is because I am so apt to get to slinging wisdom & forget to let up. Thus much precious time is lost.
