There has been a good deal of excitement surrounding our first 3 picks since Summer League began. In the last few days 2 threads have been started calling for 2 of these guys to start immediately and the 3rd guy just signed the richest second round contract in NBA history. Im pretty excited about this draft class.

Now I know its too early to make a really good prediction. Summer league provides little real evidence, but thats the whole point of predictions!

Fire away. I know I think all 3 will be solid contributors, but I think right now Im leaning RJ Hunter.

I've said I think a plausible, relatively optimistic outcome for the rookies is as follows:

RJ Hunter -- Danny Green
Terry Rozier -- CJ Watson
Jordan Mickey -- Ed Davis

That being the case, my pick is RJ Hunter.

I didn't include Thornton because I don't think he'll spend much time in the NBA.

against my better judgement, I'm getting swept up in the RJ Hunter enthusiasm. I actually think all three of these guys have high floors and not-particularly-high ceilings. I'm going with Hunter

I think so too.  Danny Green is not a star, but that's a pretty high ceiling to set for a guy taken at #28 before seeing him play in any actual NBA games.  So I guess I'm swept up in the enthusiasm, too.

Even if he's not good enough defensively to ever be a starter, Hunter is the best bet because he appears to be a legit shooter, albeit a somewhat streaky one, and he has the height and length to play on the wing, at least in bench units.  That will get him a shot at playing time wherever he goes.

I agree, TP.  Shooting is always at a premium.

My guess would be Holmes.  He may not make this team, but someone will pick him up.  He's the best shooter of the lot.  Someone always needs a shooter.  He may fill a role like Matt Bonner for the Spurs or Bass did for the Celtics.  Yeah, I know he's not as athletic as Mickey or the others.  But, he quietly gets the job done.  I would definitely keep him over Perry.

Mickey has long length and quick defensive reactions. Going to be very good at defensive end and his shot blocking stats in college were no fluke. Looks like he has enough upside to be a better than average offensive big. He's not yet and needs to improve down low off his college numbers.

I was very tempted to say Hunter with his effortless long distance shooting. FT shooting and 3FGA is a better indicator of NBA 3 point shooting than actual 3FG% according to ESPN's stat guru Pelton. Have to think it's because strong players on most college teams get doubled a lot. Much better passer than I expected. Defense is TBD though. Wouldn't be surprised if he's the one. Second guessing myself on this one.

Came across this page when looking for some old summer league stats.  Really amusing, and puts things in perspective with respect to our rookies and how they performed in summer league:

Terry Rozier -  Reggie Jackson - I am surprised that after all the huge clutch shots Rozier took and made, as well as a couple of necessity steals,  that he is not everyone's top choice.  He was an easy top pick for me

RJ Hunter  -  Kyle Korver

Jordan Mickey - Taj Gibson

I am very optimistic for all three.  And I hope we keep Holmes.

I went with hunter.  Love the shooting touch but very impressed with the passing and iq.  Both he and Mickey could be two guys who really improve into good nba players.  Add in rosier and this has to be considered one of ainges better draft years

RJ Hunter just has that stoke and seems to have the overall on floor confidence.

Maybe he won't be Steph Curry, but he could pan out to be a Dell Curry type role playing sniper.
