still slow and can't jump and playing where he is weakest.

Great read by Jackie in Mar 2015.

Quote
The Celtics asked him to report to training camp this past October at 260-265 pounds, but instead he showed up 20 pounds heavier and gained even more weight as the season progressed.

The Celtics believe Sullinger weighed in excess of 300 pounds this season. The power forward balks at that number

"The heaviest I got was 298,'' he insisted.

He is told his team begs to differ.

"I didn't get over 300,'' Sullinger said. "I was close, but I didn't.''

He paused for a moment.

"Well, maybe one day I was ...'' he offered.

300 and gained weight during the season.

"I've got to get in the best shape possible. Not just for the Celtics, or basketball.

"I have to do this for myself."

How may times does Ainge put up with this crap, it is a broken record.

The competition in that league is beyond poor.

If he can commit to staying in shape, I want him around.

He is proven that he can play in this league......he can be a solid 16 and 10 kind of guy if he can stay on the floor for 32min+

.........and yes he probably is a liability on the defense of end to play that many minutes.

If you were to trade sully, confetti would fall from the rafters because you actually found a team willing to trade for him.

Reading his tweets and those blog posts he used to do last season, it always felt like he was parrotting what he was told to say about his weight but didn't really internalize it. Almost like the way an addict will say all the right things to avoid going to rehab but you can still tell that they're not serious.

Recently, though, he made a comment about his body telling him "it's time" or something like that. It sounded, to me, a little bit like maybe he figured it out for himself that this is what has to happen. It could all be wishful thinking on my part, but I'm hopeful to see him come into camp in shape.

Sully is very skilled
A lot of guys don't appreciate what he does

I hate to say this
But if injuries and conditioning are a continuing issue
It may be time to trade him
As I don't see him improving his stats and game without dealing with these issues

Sully's 2014/2015 per 36 are pretty decent... 17/10 w/3assists and a block. Not bad... I think he's a solid player, if he gets his playing time this year he should put up decent stats again. The off season is such a bickering time, if the team is +500 and he's playing well you won't see many of these negativity threads.

You forgot a couple.

43.9% FG
28.3% 3PT
74.4% FT

Also if you want to play the Per-36 Game...

* Olynyk (16.6 / 7.7 / 2.8 / 1.6 / 1 / 47.5% / 34.9% / 68.4%)
* Lee (15.5 / 10.2 / 3.4 / 1.2 / 1.0 / 51.1% / 65.4%
* Johnson (12.6 / 8.3 / 2.1 / 0.8 / 1.1 / 57.4% / 41.3% / 61.2%
* Bass (16.2 / 7.4 / 1.9 / 0.8 / 0.6 / 50.4% / 28.1% / 79.0%)
* Zeller (17.3 / 9.7 / 2.4 / 0.4 / 1.1 / 54.9% / 82.3%)

Johnson is probably the only guy on that list who didn't have overall numbers right up there with Sully, and he's a guy who's famous for impacting the game in ways that don't show up on the box sheet.

So even with his nice Per-36 stats, he's still could easily be the 4th or 5th best big on this team once you factor in his defensive issues and his horribly inefficient (it really is HORRIBLY inefficient)  offensive game.

still slow and can't jump and playing where he is weakest.

Wow, that's really bad...

I thought 280 was bad enough for a guy who's 6'9".  Three hundred pounds for a 6'9" guy is like Oliver Miller big.  That's not an athlete's body...that's the body of a average every day guy who needs to go on a diet.

It's actually in a way impressive that, with a body like that, Sully is able to play professional basketball at a competitive level.  There are retired players out there approaching their 50's (Mutombo, Hakeem, MJ, etc) who are probably in significantly better shape than Sully is.

A guy with Sully's physical makeup should never exceed the 270 pound mark - and even that is pushing it.  He should really be down around 260 at the most.

A lot of guys don't appreciate what he does

So are Josh Smith, and Lance Stephenson.  So were Jordan Crawford, Andray Blatche, Gilbert Arenas, Vin Baker.

So many players who have been very skilled, but who never came close to seeing their potential because of issues with attitude / professionalism.

Sully is at that point right now, and he's dangerously to becoming one of those guys.  The guys that no team will offer a significant contact too, because because no team wants to take the risk and deal with the attitude problems.

The thing with Sully is that it's not only his weight/conditioning that's the issue.  It's also the way he plays the game.  A PF who shoots 43% from the field is utterly unacceptable - people complain about Josh Smith offensively, but Smith has been up around 46% FG for the majority of his career, and typically put up his more inefficient shooting seasons when he was primarilly playing the SF spot.

Sully is so bad offensively that he makes JOSH SMITH look efficient.  Need I say more?

Then you compile that efficiency with his defensive issues, and now you throw in the weight/conditioning problems...and yeah, it's not good.

If I'm Danny and I feel the need to trade one of my bigs, I'm trading Sully - and the decision is not even close.
