He's a product of the current NBA. Came out to early and is a real project, he is in phase 1 of that now = developing his body to an NBA body. After that he's going to have t learn how to play the game. Being a good player doesn't mean you know how to play the game, and young players often need to learn this. He reminds me of TMac in this way, TMac sat for a couple years doing all that and than all of a sudden was an awesome player. Not saying Young will ever be at that level, for all I know he could be out of the league in 2 years but I sure hope soon it all falls into place for him.

I think alot of his problem is that his shot isnt falling.....this was the same with avery bradley whom fans HATED his first year, called him a bust and wanted him shipped out of boston.

once his shot started falling and he gained more confidence he turned into a pretty solid player. if young can at least turn into an avery bradley type talent I would be happy

I think he has his full rookie contract to prove himself unless he gets traded.  Needs to mix up taking it to the hole with his jumper.  It will help his game and keep defenders honest where they are not always playing his jumper.

The mental game is not his strong point.  People expect the James Young of that title game.   I lived in KY that whole year and truth is he can be passive.

This was not the norm but it is what people expect.

Dissapointed would probably be the word.

Ive really been excited about him ever since we drafted him and summer league was an opportunity for him to make a statement and he really really failed to do so.

Its still too early to give up and i dont hate him, but Im dissapointed because he is missing a great opportunity here.

Youngs tourney performance is what makes me most excited about him. not that I expect him to dunk all over people, but that as an 18 year old kid he wasnt afraid of the spot light at all. He was at his best on the biggest stage. I like those kind of guys.

The Problem is not JYoung. it is the NBA system JYoung is playing under.

NFL requires 3 years removed from High School to be eligible for the Draft. MLB requires, if you choose college, you must play 3 years of college ball to be eligible for Draft. If your drafted out of H.S, as we know the MLB has several phases of development before you sniff a ML Club.

The NBA says one year. Most Players are not physically or mentally prepared to play at the next level. They go for the money or bad advice and this is why you have 15 to 18 teams every year that suck.
If the NBA required 3 years of College or oversea's ball, you would get players better prepared to play in the NBA and thus a better draft. A better chance of building better teams in the long run.

Stash Young in DLeague once again and keep your fingers crossed.

Nobody actually hates young. They just had expectations for him on this board and are now starting to realize his ceiling his lower than they originally imagined. He could still be a role player, but I think it's evident he will never be an all star now.

I had much lower expectations.  His defense made me think the best path would be to groom him for a bench scoring role.
