The Mavs not getting DeAndre increased the value of our pick. The thing is if the season starts and the Mavs lose a bunch of games I think they ship out assets to make sure they have a bottom 7 pick. Even if we don't get the pick this year, a pick in the 7-14 range in 2020 is probably more valuable than a 2016 pick in the 20's we would have got if they signed Jordan. So even if we don't get the pick this year, the Mavs being bad increases the value of the pick long term.
When Brooklyn moves Joe Johnson I think they are a lot more likely to be in the lottery than the Mavs.
I would 100% trade either of those picks for a star. I probably would give the Mavs back their pick in exchange for Chandler Parsons (we would add other pieces as well)
Parsons would be a good add for us but I cant think of a way where we could fit him into the cap.
It would probably have to be a 3 teamer.
Maybe AB + Jerebko to Utah, Alec Burks +a Utah first + Dallas 1st (via boston) to Dallas, Parsons to Boston?
too much? too little? who says no?
(Im asking not because I think I came across the perfect deal but because I am very confident it wouldnt make sense for someone but I cant figure out who.)
I don't think Utah does it. I'm not sure they would trade Alec Bucks for Ab straight up if they were both healthy, I doubt they would give us a first in that deal as well.
We could do something with Lee going to Dallas. Involve them in the 3 team trade so we can move Wallace, Sully, Turner and picks for Parsons.
Burks was the ? mark here for me. Hes a decently promising young pg but hes a bit of a tweener between the 1 and 2 and he has a bit of a nasty injury history. Plus with Burke and Exum and Hood on the roster, I think AB's skillset makes a lot more sense for them. Plus he is signed to a pretty sizable extension which isnt a bad deal, but it is for a guy who looks like he will soon be their 4 th gaurd in the rotation. AB's deal is better and he makes more sense for them. Perhaps keep the deal the same, but make the Utah 1st very protected. (like top 20 or at least Lotto)
I like the Lee idea. Just weaving Dallas into the deal could make sense but Im not sure how Id do it.
I dont think Dallas wants any part of Lee. If they got him Id expect to see him released and GS wont want any part of a deal that screws over Lee.
The rumor is they are looking to move on from Burke and don't like him long term. I think a combo guard who can handle some point fits great with either Exum or Hayward, because those guys can run the offense but don't need the ball in their hand the entire time.
I think Burks has more value than Bradley because he can create his own shot (assuming he is healthy). Bradley isn't exactly injury free either.
