It would if we has a star or two on the team, but we do not. You do not build a team this way....Period.

Why? Because when you build a team with role players and depth first you end up with inflated wins and bad draft position. Also, stars attract and recruit other stars.

If we had only just tanked and gotten a pick in the top 9, I would feel so much better about the direction of the team.  We were in prime position to do so before getting IT.  Stevens could have played Young 20 minutes a game over the last month and a half.  IT may have even still have been available.  Ugh.

I agree that the IT trade and not playing JY wrere mistakes that hurt the C's draft position and leave the C's now in a worse place than they could have been.  But I think Danny is doing the right thing now.
I disagree with Future C's Owner -- the C's are in a unique position with a bevvy of draft picks, a boatload of young players with potential and a bounty of future cap space.  Also, a crafty GM and an excellent young coach.  If the C's role players were 27-30 years old on long-term $10 Mil contracts it would be awful. As of now, the C's roster on 11/1/15 will include MS (21), JS (23), KO (24), JY (21), TR (21), RJH (22), TZ (24), AB (24), IT (26), and Mickey (21).   TEN players under 26 who could see regular time on the court.  This is unique.   Not saying that we have a lot of potential stars -- I am saying that we have a lot of players who may increase their value.

Once value increases, the other thing Danny has are tradeable contracts.  Lots of 2 to 3 million dollar salaries to combine with a few larger salaries and draft picks.  Danny should be in the driver's seat with many attractive pieces at trade deadline or summer of 2016.  In addition, he has control of the cap situation and can open tons of cap space in 2016.

Yes, I wish the C's had slumped at the end of last year, winding up with pick 10 or better.  But they didn't.  They need some luck from the Nets and maybe the Mavs too.  But the C's roster/salary/draft/coaching/GM situations are not typical of the stuck in the middle for 8 years team.

I like what Danny is doing. 3-4 first round picks next year and a great young defensive minded team. 45-50 wins next year.
