Portland Trail Blazers star free agent LaMarcus Aldridge has plans to meet with the Toronto Raptors this week, league sources told RealGM.

Aldridge has an an interest in the Raptors, who hold space for a maximum contract offer to the, sources said. In his free-agent meetings, Aldridge will be joined by his mother, Georgia.

Nevertheless, the San Antonio Spurs are considered a strong candidate to sign Aldridge out of the Portland Trail Blazers, and the four-time All-Star has several other meetings, too.

Aldridge will consider meeting with the Houston Rockets, among his other sitdowns, sources said. As an unrestricted free agent for the first time, Aldridge only benefits with his due diligence from interested teams.

Widely believed to be the NBA?s most attainable superstar free agent, Aldridge had another standout statistical season in his ninth year with the Blazers. The 6-foot-11 forward averaged a career-high 23.4 points, 10.2 rebounds and 1.7 assists.

Out of Texas, Aldridge went second overall in the 2006 NBA draft, one slot behind the Raptors? selection of Andrea Bargnani.

The raptors? really ?

They have Valanciunas , but other than that no really good young players ....

The Raptors have DeMar DeRozan as well. With him and Valanciunas they have two borderline All-Stars 25 or under.

They also have a couple of intriguing prospects like Terrence Ross, Bruno Caboclo and Lucas Nogueira in addition to their 1st rounder this year.

Finally, they are a playoff team in a weaker conference run by a widely respected front office. I can see their appeal.

Draft: 8 first rounders in next 5 years.

Cap space: $24 mil.

I thought they were blowing their team up?  Would they make up their minds already??

Would this not constitute?

If Toronto can pull a meeting with him, but the Cs can't...I don't even know...maybe he really liked Jurassic World...
We're the ones we've been waiting for.

I know your post was only pointing out the Raptors' young talent, but it should be noted that they also have Kyle Lowry as a draw. The Raptors seemed ready to blow it up at the end of this past season, but I figure that idea will change if they can somehow acquire Aldridge.

Btw, whatever happened to Blakely's report of the Cs and Aldridge/Matthews?

Toronto. I love it. Go to Toronto Aldridge.

Much more interesting than heading to an old-soon-to-be-rebuilding team like San Antonio or Dallas ... or one of those train-wreck trying to turn it around teams like the LA Lakers or the New York Knicks.

PG: Lowry
SG/SF: DeRozan
PF: Aldridge
 C: Valanciunas

That would be a really interesting team.

Toronto has some interesting talent, I was wondering when players from out west would come east seeing an easier path to the finals.

LaMarcus Aldridge "leaning towards" in signing with LA Lakers.

Wow, can't believe the Lakers came on top of the Spurs. They got beat again by Los Angeles.

Bleh, I really don't like the notion of a DeRozan/Aldridge offense of high volume, inefficient long 2s.

Good to see that we are literally nowhere on Aldridge's radar ???

How about those lies spewed by Blakely, huh?

He WAS in Boston...and there were rumors of a video shoot happening the next day----so, yeah I was half joking about us "Meeting" with him.

I'm afraid he's signing with the Spurs----but they'll need to trade Splitter in order to sign him----we could use the Rondo TPE....then sign Tobias Harris to an offer sheet, who knows what's gonna happen----I'd be happy with Monroe and Al-Farouq Aminu....and go from there--!

Oh gotcha

I'd be VERY happy with Monroe but not Aminu. I think he ends up being another scrub like Turner. I'd seriously rather have Joe Johnson.
