Jonathan Holmes went undrafted despite the fact that DX ranked him #24, ahead of any of our actual draft picks. He's on our SL roster, and I hope we sign him, even if it's only for the Red Claws. Here's a summary of Holmes as a prospect:
Holmes is a senior combo forward out of Texas. At 6'9 242 with a 6'11 wingspan, he switched to SF his senior year, showing off his versatility on a team with an overloaded front court. He doesn't do any one thing spectacularly well, except maybe offensive rebounding, but he does everything pretty well. He shoots well for his size, attacks closeouts, defends fiercely, bangs in the low post, faces up from the high post, switches screens, makes FTs. He has a great motor. He has a slice of upside to improve as a shooter, as his form is excellent and he made 78% of his free throws, but at 33% from 3 he is currently only a mediocre floor spacer.
If he gets a chance I think Holmes could easily be a solid energy guy similar to Glen Davis. Well worth throwing him some non-guaranteed money.
