It is entirely possible that Phil Jackson is a cagier exec than anyone is giving him credit for. The narrative has been that he's kind of a dinosaur that loves big-butted, low post players and hates three pointers, but his moves so far kind of contradict that. Picking the Zinger is bold and correct. The fact he got a first for Tim Hardaway Jr is a borderline miracle.

I'm inclined to think he moves Melo. It's the best thing for the Knicks. Melo's age just doesn't line up with the Knick's timeline. Houston, Dallas, and the Clippers are the only team I can think of that might work/want Melo.

Why not try to bring Melo to Boston?

It would be in their best interest to trade him I think, his outburst last night was nothing but disrespectful. Not only did the fans treat Porzingins like ****, but also their "star" player? Come on now.

I'd seriously call up Jackson and make the following offer:

Isaiah, Bradley, Sullinger, Wallace and the Brooklyn picks for
Melo and Calderon.

Worse that happens is he says no.

You get Melo, and Boston becomes a far more attractive destination for free agents like Love or Aldridge.

I'd love to land DeRozan and Melo this summer.

Draft: 8 first rounders in next 5 years.

Cap space: $24 mil.

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
Melo would only agree to a trade to LA (lakers or Clips), houston or Chicago.

Most likely spot would be Lakers for D Angelo Russell and Randle.

Knicks would be pretty sweet with

Grant
Russell
*insert SF here*
Randle
Porzingis

As a core/ future.

What if we can land Love or Aldridge first.

Then maybe Melo would waive his no trade clause to come to Boston.

Didn't realize he had one

Yep that would be awesome.
I dunno if he fits too well with those two because he's great as a small ball PF but I'd take him regardless.
I think he'd  be perfect on the Clippers actually.
