What is the first thing you hear in an analysis about KAT?

Something like, "He doesn't do anything poorly. He doesn't have any real weaknesses."

One thing I learned a long time ago was that you should not overvalue anything just because it doesn't have a weakness. For instance, CSI might have decent acting, engaging storylines, and thrilling endings to each show. The show is entirely forgettable and yet continues to draw back many people to watch it. But no one would say that CSI is a better television show than Game of Thrones, even though it may be more easily consumable.

I like KAT as a prospect. I would probably take him first overall, but that's not my point. My point is this: if the first thing you think of when you talk about a prospect is a lack of weaknesses, that's not a compelling strength. I need to see that he not only has a well-rounded game, but that he also has strengths that are worthy of the number one pick.

To me, his length, agility, and rim protection are worthy of the number one pick. His post game and shooting are not weaknesses, but they are not qualities that are worthy of the number one pick. If I felt that his rim protection was overrated, it would be difficult for me to pass up on Okafor who I know has an elite ability to score inside, even if he has more weaknesses than KAT and KAT has a more well-rounded game.

Again, I think KAT does bring elite skills to the table; that's why I draft him. I don't draft him because he doesn't have weaknesses. I draft him because he has strengths.
