They have plenty of picks. Would think Saric, Embid and the 3rd overall would do it and beats Lakers, Denver and C's deal. And they also have the ability to absorb the salary. Is it smart to cash in? Does Noel and Cousins make a great fit?

Well the Kings reportedly want established players, so if that's the case neither Saric, Embiid or #3 is worth much to them.

But then I'd have though the same about Lakers with #2, Randle and Clarkson...

I guess the key is that Philly don't actually want a legit superstar, they only have interest in half injures big men on rookie contracts who have a 1/5 chance of becoming superstars.

:P

Been wondering this myself. They might feel they have such a barebones roster after that trade that even with that frontcourt, they wouldn't be competitive by the time Boogie reached free agency.

Draft: 8 first rounders in next 5 years.

Cap space: $24 mil.

Ehhh, that would dramatically alter the FA landscape for the Sixers. They'd still have room for two max offers.

I like Boogie, and wouldn't hate the trade. The thing with him is that he's got to play in a really specific system.

They are not ready for a player like Cousins. Too early in their rebuilding process.

If they trade for him, they are still going to suck for next year and maybe even the year after. Then they will make the playoffs. Still probably not good enough to do anything when they get there. Meanwhile, Cousins' contract will be ticking down and he'll be about to enter free agency. Sixers probably lose him in a trade 24 months from now before FA or for nothing during FA 3 years from now.

Team is too far away and they do not have enough time to fix everything. They'll have to give up too much of what they have already put together to get Cousins to put a winning team around him in immediate future. And when Cousins leave -- which he will almost definitely do -- then Philly is right back to where they started. Only they have just wasted 4-5 years (2 years rebuilding, 2-3 years with Cousins).

Philly would need to put in Noel at the very least and draft picks

It counters against phillys tanking plan if they give up picks as well as giving up the prospect that has produced the most so far

Also adding cousins to Philly during their tanking plan may cause him not to resign if they get any worse

Probably the LAST place in the NBA he should go ......a hateful GM..... Bad coach , just a horrible situation for someone needing stability in his life .

I also imagine ......his agent and have a short list of teams that make sense.

Philly is alike NBA store ,  collectors warehouse ,  just put out a pile dog turd team every year , take every big man that comes along .  Also the Utah plan ......just be a pile of turds every year ...till you can can't be ......no experienced player or GOOD coach would want any part of that zoo and idiot GM

It would be tough for them to build a team around Cousins quickly.  Even if Cousins and Noel are a good fit, who else could they realistically add that would make them really competitive.  Absorbing additional salary would hinder their efforts to do so and they already have McGee's 12mil on the books for this year.

Good lord this is off base.

You do realize Utah has a chance at leading the NBA in defense next year right?

The rest off it is off base as well but you've made up your mind absent of the facts and won't budge so I'm not even going to bother.

I think they're probably a year away from where this would make sense.
