[dang]ed if he does, [dang]ed if doesn't...

True, but it's more like, 'fool me once...fool me twice.'
Ya, He's had plenty of time to lose weight, still has plenty more, but I won't be fooled by pics that have favorable lighting, angles, or anything else. All I'm going to say is that "if it kinda"looks like he lost some weight, then he didn't.

On this very much agree.

Be interesting to see if Sully or KO survive draft night and remain Celtics .

Sully, if you're reading this, I want you to know that you've got plenty of fans rooting for you and taking you at your word.  I have no idea why people here berate you; you do things around the hoop that few others do.  And your rebounding is also exceptional.  When you return to the parquet next fall, it will be the start of an all-star season.  Keep working!

As previous posters have mentioned, Sully is a prime candidate for a BIG contract year followed by a return to balloon-form. He has a lot of talent, but he is one frustrating player.
Isaiah, you were lightning in a bottle.

I'd take a fat Sully over wimpy ko.
Once you are labeled 'the best' you want to stay up there, and you can't do it by loafing around.

Well I would take skilled and productive KO over a retired (due to back problems and inability to breathe and run at the same time) Sully.

Oh and what part of KO scoring 20+ points to lead Boston to victory while playing an entire game through a massively swollen eye indicates that he is wimpy, because last I checked Sullinger seems to miss 5 games every time he sneezes?

Also who is the REAL wimp...

Is it KO, who took 35.6% of his field goals inside 3 feet, shot 68% on those field goals, had a free throw rate of 25.8%, and has missed 18.3% of his games so far in his career?

Or is it Sully, who took 26.8% of his shots inside 3 feet, shot 60% on those shots, has a free throw rate of 18.2%, and has missed 28.1% of his possible games so far in his career?

Hmm...

What a pro this guy is, how could anyone ever question his dedication ? :P

Awesome!!

So he's working his butt off to make sure he'll be in perfect NBA shape when the season starts, just like he did in the past two off-seasons.

Oh, wait...

Even if he gets in shape he will unathletic as he had bottom five combine scores in his vertical, lane agility and 3/4 sprint.   It may make it easier to unload him.

Tommy Point for you, I haven't had a good laugh in a while.

 ;D

P.s.
Why do we doubt him?  Because he says the same thing EVERY SINGLE YEAR, and EVERY SINGLE YEAR nothing has changed.  Except he's played less and less physical, declined defensively, and spent more and more time standing motionaless behind the three point line.

I look at Olynyk and I see a guy who's making effort.

He said he was working to improve conditioning, and when he came out in the 14-15 summer league he looked thinner, and he moved better.

He said he'd work to improve his defense, and his defensive RPM jumped from -1.71 (62nd among NBA centers) in 2013/14 to +1.71 (24th among centers) in 2014/15.  He literally turned things around with his defensive play.

Actions speak louder than words, tis' all I'm saying.

We will also start believing what Sully says once we see on-court improvements that correspond with his off-court claims.  Until then all the talk in the world means nothing at all.

To be honest, his fitness / shape concerns me more in terms of his ability to actually stay on the floor by avoiding injury and avoiding fatigue.

Last year I could see a very clear difference in how Sully played when he first got on the court, as opposed to just before he got subbed out.  When he'd step on the court he'd play solid defense, fight more, play harder, run harder.  After a few minutes on the court he'd look like he was playing in slow motion and half asleep, and was practically walking around the court.

Don't get me wrong I'm a fatass too so I understand it's not easy playing hard in a full court game of basketball while trying to compete...but I'm not a professional athlete who's making millions of dollars...I'm an IT guy who plays pickup games once a week for fun.

Key difference there.

We all need to remember that these guys are professional athletes, so for these guys failing to keep their body in shape is the equivalent of a lawyer not taking the time to read up on changes in the law.  It's something they NEED to do in order to be able to do their job at the highest level.

Haha. I had a similar thought. Also, the first two replies to the tweet are pretty solid.

I know vaguely that NFL contracts can be pretty bloated with incentives to circumvent issues, like injuries, that would cost a ton of $$ if the player goes down. What about NBA contracts? Are there options, backloading, etc.. any kind of strategies that can be used to avoid being fleeced by a fatty once the contract season is up?
