Karl wants to win now!  He's not trying to trade Cousins to start a rebuild.  Future picks aren't what he's after.  Keep in mind that the Kings are also looking at Rondo.

Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports:

"For now, the Kings are pursuing trade scenarios for everyone on the roster, including talented forward Rudy Gay, league sources told Yahoo Sports.

Sacramento officials believe it will be difficult to find a trade partner that can give the Kings the value it wants for Cousins – and has a better chance to find a deal for Gay, sources said."

"Sacramento is motivated to find a way to create more salary-cap space with possible deals, something that the Kings will need to pursue Dallas Mavericks free-agent point guard Rajon Rondo, league sources said. The Kings and Rondo have a mutual interest, with Rondo intrigued with the idea of a potential one-year deal in Sacramento that could help to rebuild his league-wide value, sources said."

If Sacramento trades away Rudy Gay, I think Rondo's interest to play with them ends there.

The wildcard here is going to be Cousins himself. If he comes out and decides he is disgruntled, the history is that he'll end up with the team HE prefers. Nobody will pay the high asking price if they know he doesn't want to play there.

In other words, our only hope is for Cousins to decide Boston is his #1 choice. At that point, we have *enough* to make it happen, and that's all that matters. If he decides he only wants to play in NY or LA or Orlando, we're screwed.

If we can't move up in the draft and SAC wants to move Gay and Stauskas for cap relief, can the Celtics oblige them? Gay is signed to a very reasonable contract for the next three years at $12, $13, and $14 million, while Stauskas struggled as a rookie but should prosper in Steven's offense. Perhaps, Young and 16 for Gay and Stauskas. They get cap relief and two  prospects and we get a true scorer and a prospect. Thoughts? This is only if we can't get into the top 10.

If Sacramento trades away Rudy Gay, I think Rondo's interest to play with them ends there.

I think the most important part of that blurb isn't that Rondo is interested in Sacramento but that he's interested in a one-year deal to bring his market value back up in time for the cap jump in 2016.

Presumably Sacramento is willing to do that, and if they're the only ones it wouldn't surprise me to see him still interested no matter what they do.  I don't think anyone's looking at Sacramento if their primary goal is to win.

What would it take to get the #6 pick from them?

Sullinger, Bradley, Turner, 16th pick

for

Landry, Thompson,  6th pick  plus either McLemore or Stauskis?

No, they really can't, not if the Lakers are willing to give up the #2.
I second that.

Unfortunately, if the Lakers are truly motivated to get DMC, we are going to come up short just based on that #2 pick.

I heard that Ainge's offer to Philly (Nerlans Noel and #3 for Marcus Smart and Celtics picks) was to acquire assets for another move-possibly Boogie.  Ainge is playing a few moves ahead.

If the Celtics gave all the nets picks this years pick and 2 of anyone on the roster I think SAC would do it. I honestly think that would take.

High picks are infinitely more valuable because it helps assure you get a high level possible star caliber player on a rookie contract in return.
