I said this in a different post. I don't think Splitter is much different then Zeller. We'd need to give up assets to obtain Splitter. Is he THAT much of an upgrade to waste some of our assets on? I don't think so.

As far as Hibbert. I am not sure. I was never a huge fan of is, but he's obviously a big upgrade. I don't think we acquire him until we get a few more pieces to fall though.

Splitter for the Rondo trade exception and 45 and another 2nd would work.  Splitter makes about $9 million a year for 2 more years so would be cheaper than Robin Lopez or Biyombo on the free agent market, has playoff experience.  I think he would be a good complement to Zeller either starting over him or backing him up. Im assuming the Spurs are trading him to go after LA, but I have not read the article being mentioned so this would open up more cap space for them.

I would trade Wallace and 45 and another 2nd rounder or two for Hibbert.  It saves them $4.7 million and Hibbert's value is at an all time low and is an unrestricted free agent after this season so the Celtics would be getting Hibbert for essentially nothing and if he contributes great, if not then he is gone after the season anyways.

The Celtics need a rim protector and both of these are better options to me then moving up for WCS.  I would move up for Winslow, Stanley Johnson, and either of the Euro's but not WCS.

2019 historical draft.  Pick 12

Tim Duncan, Oscar Robertson, Elgin Baylor, Scottie Pippen, Willis Reed, Mitch Richmond, Sam Jones, Dan Majerle, Bob Cousy, Rasheed Wallace, Shawn Kemp, Marcus Camby

I want to take a chance on RH.

We got a better back up in Zeller already.

Hibbert is a bust ....at this point.  Weak mind and weak body

Splitter is a fair backup ,  but you wonder would he be worth a plug nickel if he were on any other team without Parker, Pops, and Duncan .

So.....big NO

Both would serve as a nice backup center. Too bad we need a starter and already have a backup.

  • Peace it's a board. We all will never agree.

I get you on Winslow. WCS is worth it too It depends how much we have to give up to get him. If he drops to 10 or so and we just need to give up 33. It would be worth it.

I would say yes to Hibbert but he doesn't fit Stevens system and is definitely not a star. Splitter-- no thanks. He's nothing special. Don't need more role players.

Tiago Splitter is from my country. I watched him play since he was very young and I have to tell you. He's Fab melo all over again. He sucks. He's benefited by a system in which he barely even touches the basketball, doesnt shoot too many free throws and doesnt even have the main assignment defensively. Basically I could play his role if I was 7'0

So... if Fab Melo had been drafted by the Spurs ... he would have a world championship ring?

Hyperbole, much?

Sorry, my intention wasnt to draw a direct comparison to Fab Melo in terms of his basketball IQ. Splitter actually understands where to be, and how to play within the rules of basketball. But thats about it

Hibbert -- Yes, if the price is right.

Splitter -- Like him as a player, but he's actually kinda old and has had a lot of injuries.  No thanks.

Are we talking about the SA PF/C player called Tiago Splitter or someone else ???
Cause this guy was one of the best pf/c in euroleague for 105-6 years and then for the Spurs he is averaging 9p/5r in 19mins. Nothing jawdropping but his is light years from Fab Melo status!
Gigi Datome was MVP out there even though I like Gigi way more than Splitter. I'll give you that the comparison was out of line having in mind that Fab Melo should never be a pro. Splitter is still by any means just a below average at best basketball player.
