We'll be participating in the Utah Jazz Summer League (July 6-9), along with the Jazz, Spurs, and Sixers. Then we go to Vegas (July 10-20), along with 23 other teams. So July will be a really busy month for our young players and new draft picks.

Smart, Young, and Babb are in. Olynyk is not, as he'll be playing for Canada this summer. Pressey may play some games, but the C's want to use Smart as a PG all summer so no real need for Pressey.

Iverson-

A Celtics contingent that included director of scouting Dave Lewin and international scout Benas Matkevicius flew to Spain last month to check on Iverson and formally invite him to join the team's summer squad again. They watched him practice, then took him to dinner to discuss the state of the team and the role he'd be competing for moving forward.

Said Iverson: "We essentially agree on everything that I need to do to make it happen."

In 56 games this season between Liga ACB and Euroleague play, Iverson has averaged 7.3 points and 6 rebounds over 20.5 minutes per game. His scoring is down a tick from his first season overseas in Turkey last year, but he's been a more efficient scorer, shooting 60.2 percent from the floor.

"Overall, I think I just improved on my aggressiveness," said Iverson. "Last year, I kinda just settled into a role [with his Turkish team]; this year, I’ve been more assertive. I try to force my way on offense and make moves in the post when I have opportunities. Not being selfish, but if I got an offensive rebound, I’d go back up with it."

Iverson struggled with his post offense, but even at his advanced age, he's convinced he's progressing.

"I just hope to be as aggressive as possible this summer and kinda show [the Celtics] what my role can be for this team," Iverson said. "Show them that I am ready for this opportunity."

Faverani-

There was a report that he could play in Summer League and that the C's are monitoring his progress following knee surgeries, but haven't heard anything since.

Pressey will get plenty of playing time since Marcus can play the 2.

Sounds like keeping Pressey off summer league to get Smart point guard reps is a possibility.

Hoping for Marcus to get to the basket, get into the paint regularly, get everyone involved, shoot the 3, and maybe look confident as a PG.

Young needs to shine, and show a lot more than last year. He needs to re-establish his potential, or the C's are going to forget why the drafted him. I feel he will.

Faverani? Iverson?

I don't hold much hope for either of these two. I'm not sure Faverani wants to even play basketball, never mind leave Europe.

Iverson just will not give up. You have to hand it to him. I guess playing basketball in Europe isn't that bad.

Save some room on roster for Derrick Marks, Tyler Haws, and Seth Tuttle.

I'd take a shot at Haws, not sure of the others.  Unique mid-range game for Haws.  Can he guard anybody though, and can he stretch his game out to the 3-point line ?

What about Andre Dawkins? We should give the kid a shot too.

Eddie, thanks for your reminder on the Summer League, I like watching these games.

I could take another look at Iverson but I'm finished with Babb, Favarani and I'm becoming real skeptical about James Young. he will play well in the Summer League venue but then turn around and blow it when the season is for real!!!

looking forward to seeing what Smart and Young can do in these games since the leagues are pretty much guard oriented.  looking forward to seeing what this year's picks look like in those games too (whoever they may be).
