I'm just curious, wondering what everyone thinks. I personally want to keep both and go after DeAndre or Butler/Leonard. Jerebko is a nice skilled player now in his prime years, great motor, and scores us extra possessions. Crowder is only 24, he may improve and is still years from his prime. Both players play with a similar motor and seem to play winning ball. What do you guys think? I know getting a star is a bigger priority, but I really like these guys on the bench.

TP, what do you think teams will offer Crowder in terms of a contract? When would the Celtics choose not to match?

I really don't see us having much of a shot at the high end free agents.  Will Jimmy Butler leave Rose & Pau to come play with Sully & Smart?  No way.  Will Kawai turn down the chance to be heir apparent to active dynasty?  doubtful.  Deandre choosing CBS & IT4 over Doc Rivers & CP3?  no chance.

So, inho, we have no choice but to retain both Jerebko & Crowder.  They are affordable pieces that fit into our system and both are entering their prime years.

I'm torn

Crowder's defense is nice and all, but the way the offense moves with jerebko and kelly is a thing of beauty

This is one of those questions that i'll answer differently depending on the day

Today i'd keep both

And today we have both  :)
I trust Danny Ainge

Co-sign.

And who knows? Maybe someone out there offers either or both these guys more money and/or more minutes than Ainge feels comfortable offering. I wouldn't either of them back on bad deals.

What if SA picks up Marc Gasol, they wont have enough money to retain Leonard. Also we are one of the most attractive teams with cap room IMO. Who else is there? 76ers? Knicks? Lakers? The whole thing is very unlikely, but weirder things have happened for sure, and you know Danny is going to be trying hard.

If your the GM , your job is up grade or at least try, not shrug your shoulders and do nothing  ::)

So he ll make a pitch at upgrades without a doubt .....and GM who doesn't try and improve the team has no business in the business .

Danny has a positive attitude .  And a good personality .....a good salesman.

He'll try and upgrade .....maybe he is successful and maybe not .....so that's all you can do.

If he has no takers for FA offers.....  then these guys will have to do .  I have no complaints about their work ethic, they play hard and have team spirt .

I think both will be improved next season ,  they have barely been Celtics and together.   Most of the team other than Bass and AB are pretty new to each other

Give the coach and all his new players a chance .

Crowder if he's affordable. I'd be comfortable/happy paying him 4.5-8m a year for 4 years (4/18 to 4/32) depending on what the market does.

If not, I'd be happy retaining Jerebko's services for 3-5.5m a year for 4 years (4/12 to 4/22) with a team option for the last year.

Free Agency is gonna be weird until we know what the cap is going to be raised to.
My biases, in order of fervor:
Pro:
Smart, Brown, Hayward, Tatum, Kemba, Grant Williams, Sleepy Williams, Edwards!

Anti:
Kanter, Semi, Theis, Poierier

For this year's cap, you can probably afford both and a max player, assuming Jerebko makes no more than what he's getting now.  Because Crowder makes the minimum currently, his cap hold is almost negligible, so as long as you sign your other free agents before Crowder, the room exists.  Because Crowder is a restricted free agent with such a small cap hold, it would be surprising if he left next season.  Someone would have to significantly over pay him.

The real either/or is Bass and Jerebko.  Only one can come back.

Would like to sign both to reasonable contracts, Jerebko's skill at rebounding in traffic and 3 pointers could help any team, but if only one is an option I go with Crowder. He just fits in so well, continually impressed by his contributions to the team since arriving.
