I was the opposite, loved the Sully pick and hated the Fab Melo pick, does this mean I know more about basketball than Stephen A Smith? No. He makes logical arguments. He points out Sully used mostly his body and strength in college to compensate for subpar size and athleticism and SAS suggests this may not hold up in the NBA especially with injury concerns. What Stephen A underestimated was Sullys basketball savy and his nose for rebounds.
His point on Fab is also rooted in logic. Here you have a young big man who is big, long, strong and athletic but does not know how to play basketball. He gets drafted into a system with the highly regarded Doc Rivers where he will be able to concentrate on his game under the tutelage of one of the best defensive bigs of all time. It didnt pan out. Too bad, he was wrong.
I disagree with Smith on nearly every turn, but I dont know if I would call him an idiot, that may be too far.
