the spurs and now the hawks are showing that the game is changing... no need for superstars.. teamwork and a good coach are what you need... lebron and durant have great players next to them..but they are not better teams. I am reading all yhe timE for trades...the most important is to have the coach who can give uS the winning mentality. Do we have him?

Not sure I agree with the premise.  I still think the key to winning is (and will continue to be) great players.  Spurs do have Leonard, Manu, TD, TP, Green, Splitter, Diaw.  Perhaps no true superstar but an abundance of high quality players there -- aging a bit this year and it shows in their record.  Atlanta also with a lot of quality players.

And further -- you would bet against Cavs with LBJ, GSW with Curry/Thompson, or OKC with KD/RW?

But regarding the question of whether the C's have a winner in Stevens, I absolutely think so.   If the C's continue to play/win at their current pace, Brad Stevens should get some COY votes.

Another way the 3 has changed the game on the offensive end.  Shooting has improved so much overall in the league it's crazy. I watched the 88 Celtics/hawks game the other day on hardwood classics, and couldn't believe how they used to just pack it in and let almost anyone shoot from 20ft and out.

Now it seems that knock down shooters are stars themselves.

Anyway, it's easier to draw up plays to move the ball for a 3 than to get those über star players that drop 20 a night.

The spurs have tons of HOF even if they old they know how to play and can bring it when they choose and know how to win.

I do not think GS follow the coach model either.
