Sully is powerful ...due to his bulk ......

He looks soft and weak for a man his size.

I bet IT can out bench him.

I would like to say Smart, and Bass are probably the strongest on the Celtics. If I have to guess, Smart could probably out bench anyone on the Celtics

Yup....Sully needs to follow Bass , KO and Marcus to the gym ... ;)

It takes me 3hrs to get to Miami and 1hr to get to Orlando... but I *SPIT* on their NBA teams! "Bless God and bless the (Celts)"-Lady GaGa (she said gays but she really meant Celts)

Didn't Sully say last offseason that he would lose 25-30 lbs? Wasn't he working out with that trainer girl from TV? (I forget her name- she was blonde.) Didn't he say last year how he "would've lost weight but couldn't exercise because of his back?"

Call me a skeptic, but history is not in Sully's corner right now.
Every year so far he's had an offseason goal to lose weight, failed to meet it, and has had the Celtics brass go on record with their displeasure about this. Just one of the reasons why he's a player I don't want to touch with a 10-foot pole.

This is troubling.  Why would you throw a big contract extension at him again?  Injury prone & admittedly out of shape?

When he's healthy & on the court,  he can be quite the player.  The problem is that those moments seem to be few & far between and the idea of shutting him down for the season seems to play on a loop year after year.

Those are called red flags.
Big time.  Ainge coming out and publicly saying it is interesting though.  Is he advising Sully that he's drawing a line in the sand when it comes to his next contract?  Is it to ward off other teams?  What's really troubling is that Sully can play and he's improving....so someone is likely going to come in and toss some money at him and I'm sure Danny has a figure in mind of what he's worth in his current 'condition'.  Its probably a lot lower figure than Sully has in mind.

This one's gonna be interesting going forward, and its a big decision for the future of this team.

So correct me if I'm wrong but he has cost himself any kind of extension probably, right?  We will ride out next year and play the restricted free agent game......even if he comes into camp next year in great shape do you trust him?

When management in any capacity calls you out for not being in shape when you clearly aren't, you should as least give good lip service and say the right things. Try something like. "I'm gonna do everything I possibly can. Hire a nutritionist, utilize our trainers and I'll be back next year in the greatest shape of my life." He seems to just not give a crap, and thinks he doesn't need to improve his body to be the best he can be. This is seriously troubling. He can easily eat his way out of the league.

With motivation and commitment , Sully could average 18-20 and 10-12. He could start on the next Celtic contender with the right teammates. But he's gotta get his head out of his behind. Danny has assembled a team of young, improving hard workers who thrive on their hustle and effort. If Sully can't get with that as this team develops, he needs to go.

The talk is the easy part folks putting the talk into an action plan and doing the hard work will be the hard part.   I am not optimistic but him admitting it is a problems is a positive step.

This injury must to have been worsened by the weight for Ainge to hammer him like this in the media.   I too, were I Ainge would be tired of his inaction.  Your a pro, Jared it is time to act like one and be a professional and take care of your body.  You have let yourself down, your team mates and despite posting some decent numbers, your franchise and fan base down.

His positives are rebounding and scoring.   Three point shooting is something he should stop.   One has to wonder what he did last summer at all as his percentage only went up one point.  His defense has always been suspect and athletically he is lacking.   I do not think he will increase a lot in this regard.   His combine scores were not good at all and he was by all accounts thinner then.   I think he could get stronger, but the man will never be a gazelle that can leap or run that well.   He can improve in this regards but Blake Griffin he is not.

He is a superb rebounder, but we are running the court better without him and our pace is better without him.   If it continues he could be expendable, especially if we draft the right guy.

His weight has always been an issue since we drafted him no? Isn't his weight part of the reason why he was out his rookie year because it was affecting his back. Now this year he has a fracture metatarsal. I think this summer, if he doesn't drop at least 20 lbs by training camp or even first day of the season, Danny should not offer him an extension and look to trade him.
