watching the direction ainge has taken i think we need some athletic bigs.. and sully has disappointed me with not losing weight... with smart and thomas we start running and i do not think that he can keep up.. and  with zeller and olynyc being 2 good back ups but with no rim protection we need someting very different in our starting pf and c position... trade him and i think someone will give something similsr with mozgov!

I think the trade Sully ship has sailed, at least until he has proven that he is in shape and at least as effective as he was pre-injury. Unfortunately for Ainge, he lost one of his top trading chips this summer - that is unless he is just an 'extra' in a trade for a star (he is not currently the centerpiece).

No need to trade Sullinger.

He is good and cheap.

Trading Sullinger might be an exercise in taking whatever you can get at the trade deadline before he becomes a restricted free agent.

No need to trade Sullinger.

He is good and cheap.

Not to mention his stock is low (and will be) due to injury.
The Nets will finish with the worst record and the Celtics will end up with the 4th pick.

Timing isn't that strong for any "Trade ______" threads right now. Last week? Sure. This week? Not so much.

Crap, I wasn't even thinking about that. Sully was the main prize from us during the whole Love affair. But the way Bradley has been playing lately, both him and IT would be really nice consolation prizes.

I think Sully's trade value will take a dip next year since he is in the last year of his rookie contract and will be asking for a large contract extension the following summer. This latest injury will only make it harder to trade him around draft time. And if he comes into camp overweight again next autumn ...

Trading Sully for value looks like a difficult proposition.

Our best bet may be to take a chance and try and extend him for cheap before he comes back next year. At that point, we will have hopefully used our cap space / TPEs on our future 'star'. If he can sign on for an AB type of deal, he may end up being a real bargain. I hate to have him re-establish his value and then sign him for a near-max contract, especially since the new near max in 2016 will be pretty killer.

Second that. Should have happened last (calendar) year.

Good point.  An AB type of deal would still make him a tradeable piece even if his play levels off.  I think my breaking point would be no more than 10 mil a season at this point.

An Avery Bradley type of deal is not a bargain for an undersized, overweight forward with multiple injury issues.

At what point does DA put conditions and incentives into the contract about his weight? I know alot of other contracts have incentives for rebounding, awards, etc., so why don't we put conditions or incentives on him being below 250 pounds during the entire season?

He is overweight and hurt who is going to take him, seriously.  Best to let him play it out ( rookie contract) and see what happens, DA will move if he wants to sign with too high of money.

The team runs better without him, we still are not great on D, he losing him helps some in that regard.   We really need a back-line shot blocker, I think Zeller might be servicable at PF at some point..
