I wonder what Cousins thinks about the hire. Bc unlike Corbin or Malone, Karl is not going to take bs and has been a coach in the league for a long time.  Sure Cousins is a talented player but some of the "other" things that he does from time to time is a distraction for the Kings on the floor

Maybe Karl will help Cousin become more mature, maybe they will butt heads.  We will see how much freedom Karl will give Cousins.  It will be interesting to see what happens

If Karl is smart, he'll ask Cousins to do exactly what he's been doing so far this year.  Cousins' teammates -- and Kings' management -- are the problems, not Cousins.

Rudy Gay is a cancer.  Doesn't every team play better without him?   They should trade Gay and start giving Ben McLemore more shot opportunities.  Kid has a bright future.

I agree. But who is going to want Gay. He just signed an extension also.  The less you ask of him, the better the Kings will be (like with Green and Memphis)

Sac could use more players like Crowder, Smart on their team.   Bring the energy and hard work

Another situation I can see happening is one, two or three Nugget players brought in. Maybe something like

To Nuggets:  Stauskus, Derrick Williams, Landry
To Kings: Chandler, Foye, Hickson, 2nd round pick

Nuggets lineup

Cousins
Hickson
Chandler
Gay
Collison

Bench

Thompson
Mclemore
Foye
Sessions

Holding the entire team more accountable would be good. Malone was doing a much better job than Corbin, though given the situation with him being interm that could have been out of his control as well.

You'd think people would be better about it as adults, but the sub always gets more crap.

Karl will make the team play better. Probably not well enough to fight for the 8th seed at this juncture, but who knows.

Gay has been playing much better in Sacramento than either Memphis or Toronto, I believe.

Gay is the Kings second best player and a borderline all star in Sacramento. He didn't fit in Toronto but does fit in Sacramento.

Problem is the putrid, worst in the league bench, PF

Agreed. Gay has been really good for them (this is a perfect example of players not being able to shed bad labels even though they've changed). Cousins and Gay is a pretty solid foundation, but they just don't have good pieces around them. PG has been a revolving door for them - though Collison seems to be working out, the PF situation is a joke, and they're still waiting to see if McLemore or Stauskas can claim the SG of the future spot. At some point, they have to decide that they've collected enough lottery picks and try to build an actual team.
2021 Houston Rockets
PG: Kyrie Irving/Patty Mills/Jalen Brunson
SG: OG Anunoby/Norman Powell/Matisse Thybulle
SF: Gordon Hayward/Demar Derozan
PF: Giannis Antetokounmpo/Robert Covington
C: Kristaps Porzingis/Bobby Portis/James Wiseman

Omg, unbelievable hiring.

There's absolutely no excuse for Karl being out of the NBA so long, especially when there's been so many first-time coaches in the past year and a half.
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale

Karl didn't want to take on a bad team fresh off a COTY award. With the exception of the Warriors (who seem to have a fairly dysfunctional front office) what quality teams have had head coaching openings?
