Z-Bo, huh?  At this point in Z-Bo's career he was literally a 20 and 10 guy.

When Sully entered the league, I heard a lot of comparisons to Carlos Boozer.

21 year old Boozer:  10 points, 7.5 rebounds, 1.3 assists, 0.6 blocks, 0.7 steals 54%/77% - 25mpg
22 year old Boozer: 15.5 points, 11.4 rebounds, 2 assists, 0.7 blocks, 1 steal 52%/77% - 34.6mpg

21 year old Sully - 13.3 points, 8.1 rebounds, 1.6 assissts, 0.7 blocks, 0.5 steals - 43%/77% - 27.6mpg
22 year old Sully - 14.4 points, 8.1 rebounds, 2.4 assists, 0.7 steals, 0.7 blocks 45%/75% - 28.7mpg

Pretty similar.  Maybe less efficient, but Sully shoots more three pointers.

I think Boozer is probably a closer comparison, though I think young Boozer had a more impressive physique than Sully is ever likely to have.

Somewhere between Diaw and Boozer ... a bit of Luis Scola thrown in there too.  That's the best comparison I can make.

Anyone else read the title "Jared Sullinger career clone" and think it reads
"Jared Sullinger career done"?

Maybe just me and my tired old eyes. Need glasses, you know.

If it's you, it's me too. Also, look two posts up from yours.

Besides the similarities in production and style, I'd also throw out that the early years of both were/ are filled with red flags and general uncertainty. Sullinger has his injury concerns, work ethic and professionalism issues, and of course his weight problem. Randolph had different red flags but arguably more dangerous ones for his career. Drugs, guns, drag racing with drugs and guns, fights, fights involving drugs, seeming to be surrounded by "the wrong people". I haven't heard of any real problems in a few years so perhaps he grew up, or has just been lucky. I hope it's the former. As for his career, I'd say Randolph has turned out much better than most would have guessed in say '04-05. Hopefully Sully can put some of these questions to rest in the ensuing years as well.
