This is a tough deal...
On one hand: losing sucks. It gets to you and really makes watching this team hard to do. I understand "the process" of going through it, but this is a proud organization with great history and a fan-base that has become accustomed to winning (and no doubt spoiled).
On the other hand: winning is going to stick this team in the NBA hell - mediocrity. A team that is just good enough to win, but bad enough to not be any good.
The way I see it with regard to the draft: this draft is TOP HEAVY and it basically sucks. If you don't get a TOP-5 PICK, it's a waste of time to even stay in this draft. The only 5 guys I see as "must have" players are Okafor, Towns, Mudiay (and even he's a great unknown), Russell, S. Johnson - that's it. Cauley-Stein is iffy... But beyond these 5 (or 6) this draft just doesn't have much appeal.
So we either bottom out or we go all in... But to be 2 games out of a playoff spot with this horrendous team is not where I want us to be. The coaches and players want to win, and I don't blame them. But this team will be stuck for a few years if the idea is to be drafting in the 12th spot, signing mid-tier free agents, and trying to trade for a marquee player (that no team in their right mind will just hand over).
The direction of this franchise really has me confused right now...
But it shows a MUCH LARGER problem: the NBA just sucks anymore. That was some bad basketball in Denver tonight, and when you watch the Pacers, Sixers, Magic (who lost to the Knicks tonight) and Charlotte (who got killed by Cleveland) - the point is that there are a lot of NBA teams that are floundering, and though they appear to have more talent, it's a watered-down league that lacks quality basketball for the most part...
