So I was playing poker last night with a few buddys and I was just waiting on a buddy to either bet or fold I was looking at my chip stack vs his. I had him doubled when it came to chips and we have played alot together. So I tend to know when he had a good hand or if he was bluffing. I guessed right and he was bluffing so he went all in and i made the right call. So how does this relate to Danny and the picks? Is he just collecting them and waiting for the right star to say he wants out? Is he getting them  to try and own a draft this year? Alot of things can change  from day to day one minute we can have 3 first round picks the next day we may have a superstar because we traded them for him. I just feel that he is just waiting for the right hand to come along than cash them all in. Thoughts?

Between the beginning of the 2015 offseason and the end of the 2016 offseason.

We're not using all those picks so they're going somewhere, and I doubt we'll try and roll them forward Patriots-style.

What other option is there, really? Boredom? Losing a bet? Incriminating photos?

He might need his Paul Pierce level player in hand before he cashes in his chips.  The closest one on this team is maybe Smart in a year or 2 but I doubt it.  Maybe Okofor this draft.

I'm willing to be patient though as it may take us a few years.

We need to keep a reserve of picks for when we start deflating the basketballs and spying on teams

When another Cleveland Cavalier becomes disgruntled.  So probably in a couple of days or so ?

In all seriousness, probably around this time in 2016.

I think he lands a stud in the 15' or 16' free agent market, and then pairs that stud up with another star via a trade.  By that time, players like Smart, Sullinger, & Olynyk will be better, yet still developing.

A little this year, and a bunch next. We have 9 picks next year, thats almost a whole team. So, some of them will get bundled up with trades or other picks to move up at some point.

With Smart,Sully,KO,Young and even Zeller(as a back up C) thats a good solid start to a rebuild. Now DA needs to either get an elite player with trades and picks, or draft an elite player. Some teams may be further back in the rebuild and needs multiple picks to get things kickstarted.

And thats were DA will swoop in and say "Hey looky at what I  just happen to have!"

I think it benefits Danny greatly to see where we end up in the lottery this year before making any big moves.

Not saying it won't happen...but I think the return would have to be spectacular to swing Danny's thinking.

I think the answer obviously lies in Kenny Rogers' The Gambler

You've got to know when to hold em
Know when to fold em
Know when to walk away
and when to run
.......

Pretty accurate really.  I also believe he lands a first or second tier free agent in the process along the way.
