I wonder if Embiid would still go before Nurkic. I'd probably choose Nurkic as of right now.

I'm still upset we didn't trade up and take Nurkic
My 1st preference was to trade up for Embiid but Nurkic would have been a great consolation prize.  Unless I got medical evidence that Embiid has chronic injuries, I definitely still take Embiid over Nurkic.
If Philly lands Okafor in the draft, that will be a very interesting situation.  I'd be thrilled with Noel, Embiid or Okafor.  All three of those guys have the makings of franchise centers (yes, that includes Noel... who is very raw, but shows phenomenal defensive potential).   I'd aggressively try trading for one of them if I'm Danny.  If it takes moving Smart or our 2015 1st + later picks to do it, it's a gamble worth taking.

Okay, let's say that they do get Okafor - why wouldn't they keep all three of them, especially given the injury history of Noel and Embiid?

The weight doesn't worry me.

But the attitude is a huge concern..

If the attitude is right , he can drop weight and be in shape .

Fragile bones, and weak work ethic may limit his NBA effectiveness.

I seen  several would be star bigs just drafted .....drift in and out of the NBA with little impact....due to early injury .

Does he have the drive to catch up to his career if he can't play till next year .

Is he another B Lopez with less IQ and motor.

Dude, no.  Just no, lol.  Embiid is an agile big man who is also a great shot blocker, while Lopez, even at his peak, was neither of those things.  He doesn't even play inside anymore, despite his huge size advantage.  They're nothing alike, imo.

I think the media wants to compare him to oden.

Embiid will be fine.

LB...the eternal optimist for other teams. The eternal pessimist for the Boston Celtics.

This. Lol

Whether this story means something or not, the Sixers have exposed themselves to more risk than than any other team in recent lotteries. While any player can be a bust, picking back to back injured big men certainly carries a lot of risk that at least one of them will not be the same player they were pre-injury.

I will also point out on the more positive side that Blake Griffin missed his entire rookie season but has turned into a hell of a player.

Ok guys lets pack up shop. Nothing to discuss here. He is going to be just fine. No point in having a debate on a public forum when a news story comes out. Move along.

Yeah if Embiid were a Celtic, this would've been huge news.
