Which Asset?

Which asset would you be most willing to part ways with in order to get a high caliber franchise changing player.

What I mean is a player like (Durant, Westbrook, Gasol, etc),or the ability move into the top 3 picks.

Sp basically are all assets expendable to you, or is there something you just can't justify Danny trading away?

You can't win with just one player and Danny knows that. Given that, there isn't any 3 assets we own that I wouldn't give up for the type of player you are talking about. If you want Smart, our 1st and Brooklyn's 1st and you're guaranteeing me a player of the caliber you mention, I'm in.

James Young is the most intriguing to me, but no one is untrade-able.  Oly and Sully are limited athletically and have a finite ceiling both are porous defenders.  Smart can't shoot that well.   Young needs to work on his D.   I think that Smart can learn how to shoot, he would be my second keeper.   Young has all the tools to play D, just needs to learn it so he would be my first keeper.   KO and Sully have bench bigs written all over them. 

Even if Sully got in shape, his vertical and foot-speed would only be marginally better.    KO is plagued by the same kind of problems.   These guys can play and are not without skills but I doubt they will ever be elite given their limitations at least not on both ends of the court.  Guys will always be able to drive on them and beat them up and down the court.

Everyone else is expendable.   Crowder would be nice if he is cheap to keep as an energy guy.

That being said we have no one that will get us a top tier talent.   I would not trade Durant or the like for any of these guys or all four of them.   Get real, even four number ones and these four would not do it.  Thinking they would be a joke.   You'd have to have the number one pick, 2-3 of these guys and another first.

I'd be most willing to part with this Clippers second rounder we're getting, but since that won't get the deal done, I guess it's a moot point.

The guy I would be most eager to trade would be Sully, not that I think he can bring much in return.   His last game was great against Davis though but prior games he has been all over the place.

I think Sully is a starter on a rebuild team, he will productive and put up number but last game for instance in spite of him having a solid game look at Davis's numbers.  Like 38 points, now some of these were not scored when he was in.  I think Oly is a bench big.

Smart could be a starter and  Young could be a starter with time.

I do not think much of AB.

   I'd give up some picks for Durant but not all of them.  Say he was traded in the offseason. He'll have the ability to walk after just 1 year. 

If we have a top 3 pick its too much of a risk to lose both Durant and the top 3 pick after 1 year.

Not a single one our assets is untradeable if we're landing a franchise level player.

The only asset that isn't tradeable for lesser pieces is our own draft picks, we're likely to be bad so our own pick is our best shot at getting a high level franchise talent. You can't move that shot for an okay deal or player.

Another thing, once a pick is used its used. You can't be afraid to move on from a bust or even a marginal hit if that's what you need to do.

Meanwhile, you can't trade away Chauncey Billups or Joe Johnson either.  GMing is easy said than done.
