I'm usually Mr. Optimistic . ... but I'm flat out depressed about the Celtics right now.
If we wanted to attract any real free agents, we should have tried winning with Rondo on the team and made a little playoff run as a scrappy .500 team. Then roll the dice next summer and have the option to resign Rondo if that's appealing to another key free agent (or two). Make your picks, work some trades and continue improving.
As it stands, we got nothing for Rondo, are beginning to flail and are putting all eggs in the draft basket, which we know if a seriously long term option. What I thought was going to be a quick rebuild (keeping some in prime vets & drafting w/ FA additions) is going to be a full 5 year effort, where we might be competitive once Brad's original deal is coming up.
