Remember when people said it would be stupid to trade Rondo for Monroe?

It would be stupid because we can just keep Rondo and sign Monroe in the off-season. The Pistons no longer own his bird rights so we can offer just as much as them or any other team in the league . Trading for him this season makes no sense, we wouldn't gain his bird rights.

I was talking about trading for him last season when we could have signed him in the off season.

No bird rights would be gained because he signed the QO. Better off spending a pick getting money off the books (I'm looking at you Gerald Wallace) to make him an enticing FA offer. I worry about him as a defensive anchor but Rondo lobs all day would be so fun to watch.

I see no reason why they wouldn't do that. I think Danny Ainge says no.
