Rondo is a major problem. He is useless in the 4th quarter because he can not shoot and can not drive because he can not shoot free throws. They had Kyle Korver guard him in the 4th tonight. Think about that. Arguably the worst defensive player in the league was put on our starting point guard. Rondo has to go.

Korver's not even close to the worst defensive player in the league.
true. he used to be terrible, but i give him credit for working hard on learning to play defense. now? he is adequate on defense most times i see him.
I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

It needs to start with defense, obviously. It seems like the team is talented enough to score, but cannot close due to not getting stops. It could be the system, the players we have, or both, but the change has to start there.

But I'm afraid they won't. Despite these results being so frustrating, I bet Danny Ainge is loving this as he closes in on Okafor, Mudiaye, Towns or whoever is coming up.

Absolutely.  Until the C's as a team can get stops, and provide some actual resistance and fight on the def side of the ball this is going to be repeated over and over again.  It is going to be a long season.

Some accountability would be great for starters. For example, if you chuck a bad shot or miss a defensive assignment, you sit. Novel, I know.

Yep, he was useless in the 4th quarter. I mean, it's not like he wasn't involved for 11 of the 20 points in that quarter.

I also think that Ashton Kutcher is the worst defender in the league, but I'll bite, so who is it for you, then - Doug McDermott, Brook Lopez, Melo, Love, Pekovic, Kevin Martin, James Harden, Deron Williams etc.? ;D

That's a rather extreme approach, especially with a young team.  If you have such a short leash with guys out there, they'll be too scared to do anything, for fear of messing one thing up and then not playing for the rest of month or whatever.  The coach of our high school basketball team managed players this way, and it was horrible.  I had a number of friends on the team, so this is how I know.  Of course, he was, and still is, also incredibly verbally abusive, among other things, and we were a joke, so it's not like the ends justified the means, and even if we had won games, his behavior would still have been completely unacceptable.  Trust me, it really hurts guys.  If there's an alarming pattern, address it, but don't have a dude play for 5 minutes for the first time all year, see him make one mistake or miss a shot, and then immediately yank him from the game and not allow him to play for the rest of the year.  That's all I'm saying.

I haven't seen more than a few Hawks games (or last night's game) the past couple years but i remember reading somewhere that Korver has become a passable defender. Even so, I think the original post should not be totally discounted because he is still a guy Rondo should be able to take advantage of off the dribble. Didn't see the game though so can't comment further. Obviously, defense is more than just one-on-one matchups.
