This is obvious.

Lebron going to Cleveland had absolutely nothing at all to do with all of this sentimental garbage he is raving on about.  It was all about putting himself in the best chance to win as many championships as possible.

Look at Miami.  Wade is beat up and isn't getting any younger, Bosh typically chokes in the playoffs and is really just a stretch 4/5. They have no starting calibre PG and no starting calibre C.  Ray Allen was looking likely to retire.  Their bench is old, battered and filled with has-been role players. Bosh and Wade both had opportunities to opt out of their contracts.

On top of all this, they had absolutely zero cap space to rectify any of the above problems.

This year was bound to be their last championship run, Lebron knew that.  If the Heat won anyway, then he'd be convinced that maybe they could still be competitive after all.  But they got absolutely slaughtered by a Spurs team that's even older than they are, and has zero superstars.  It's an embarrassing defeat, and with their cap situation next year would not have gotten any better.

So Lebron knew that Miami had maybe one year of contention left in them.  If he signed an extension, he'd have been stuck there for years, eventually having to go through a rebuild as the Celtics are now.  Instead he jumped ship to a very young Cleveland team, joined forces with a young star (Kyrie Irving).  Even if they never go Love, they already had plenty of talent with potential...but he would have been 90% confident that Love was all but locked in already.  So he gets to jump to a team with two <26 year old All-Stars and increases his championship window by another 4 or 5 years.

To anybody who really believes his "I miss you Cleveland" sob story, shame on you!

That first part isn't true, if it was he would have gone to Chicago.  I mean Chicago was a 48 win team without Rose or James, add both of them and they are the clear favorites to win the title.

When Lebron left Cleveland he was always going to return home.  He came back a little earlier than I think most people thought because of the Cavs luck in the lottery, but he was always going to go back home.

No lol

Who do Chicago have?

Noah is the best player in Chicago by a mile, and he is not even close to a superstar.  He's an All-Star reserve...maybe.

Rose will never be the same player, he always lacked talent and excelled based purely on his athleticism and aggressiveness attacking the basket - now he won't showcase either of those attributes anymore.  He'll fade to nothing.

Pau Gasol is a 400 year old corpse who happens to still be able to play, however he instantly becomes invisible come playoff time meaning Chicago will get knocked out earlier than people expect...just as they have every single year in the Rose/Noah era.

In Cleveland Lebron joined Irving, who at the very least is a very young Alll-Star (borderline superstar) with many years ahead of him.  Plus they had the assets to bring Love over (which Chicago seemingly did not, otherwise he'd be there).  That's two young All-Stars that both have 8-10 years left in their careers.

Plus Cleveland has masses of cap space and could afford to pay him whatever they had to, and pay Love the same.

Chicago was no comparison...Lebron would have wasted his time going there.

Pau Gasol is older and more beat up then either Wade or Bosh.  Rose will like come back to be half the player he was.  Noah on his own?  Chicago has never been a legit contender since Jordan retired, and they probably wont be until this entire generation of players is gone.

If he was lucky maybe he'd win one title in Chicago before Rose retires from his forth career ending injury and Noah starts to decline.  In Cleveland there is enough youth for him to contend for the next 5 seasons.

When in Lebron's career has he ever shown a hint of doing something that was for the benefit of anybody but himself?  By moving to Miami he turned the Cav's from a yearly contender into an NBA ghost town overnight, and he showed no remorse. He even lied to them constantly, insisting Cleveland was his him and that he had no intention of leaving..only to leave them hanging dry.

Then he went to Miami, and he saw how much Cleveland were hurting.  Why didn't he request a trade back, if he cared THAT much about the city?  Why did he stick around in Miami year after year, until the one single time when it became obvious the team was no longer a contender...and THEN conveniently decide to skip town?

Lebron could have taken less money to give Miami a change to retool and compete again, but why would "the king" sacrifice his millions of dollars in income to stay loyal to the city that justy helped him win three rings?

Everything this guy says is garbage.  He's out for himself, nobody else.  He's selfish, arrogant and has no soul.  He wants money, he wants media attention.  The controversy in Miami was starting to fade along with the team, people stopped caring, the cameras turned off.  How could Lebron get maximum media buzz?  By going back to Cleveland, of course.

This is all blatantly obvious just by watching Lebron's selfish arrogance for 10 minutes on camera.  The guy is all about himself.

Derek Rose lacked talent?

Man you have a weird definition of talent. If being one of the best midrange shooters in the league, best drivers in the league, and most explosive athletes in the league isn't talent what is?

If Lebron went to Chicago and joined the mix in place there, there is no doubt they would be the prohibitive favorites to win the title.

Even without Lebron, that team might be the best in the Eastern Conference right now.

1. The Bulls didn't have room for a maximum salary, LeBron was 100% going to get the max wherever he went.

2. LeBron wanted to control the franchise where he went and Chicago's notoriously cheap ownership who fought with Jordan famously was never going to bow down to that.

this is what I pretty much thought. Lebron is a frontrunner.....if Cleveland doesnt win the finals in the next 2-3 years, watch him bolt again for greener pastures.

if everything is not going his way, lebron takes his ball and goes home

The Bulls could have cleared the space for a maximum contract.  They had the moves all worked out in case Anthony went there.

I find #2 inaccurate considering he went to Miami and Pat Riley.

I've been saying on this blog for years that James would only ever leave Miami to go back to Cleveland.  I figured he would opt in for 2 more years in Miami and then go back to Cleveland, but James was always going to go back because frankly he never wanted to leave in the first place.  I mean he tried to get Bosh to go there 4 years ago, but Bosh outright refused, it was only then that James really thought about leaving for Miami.
