She never ever reported or stated that Rondo DEMANDED a trade out of Boston.

What Jackie stated from her source was that Rondo let it be know that he , himself "WANTED OUT".

What that statement means is that Rondo does not want to play in Boston as we currently stand so he wants to play elsewhere.

WANTING OUT does not = "TRADE ME NOW, OR ELSE!"

All it meant was that Rondo did not want to be here, that he wanted to play elsewhere.

So all the reports that deny Rondo making demands for a trade of himself, these denial reports are fact.

This DOES NOT mean that Jackie Mac's reported claim of Rondo "WANTING OUT" is fiction.

I feel Rondo does want out, but that doesn't mean he asked or demanded for a trade of himself to another team. I feel that Rondo understands his NBA clock is ticking and injuries can happen at any time. So Rondo prefers to play for a better, improved team playing environment.

What I anticipate happening is that Rondo will continue to do his job and be the Celtics team player captain and the PG, Rajon will do his job and play out his final year and get his "WANTING OUT" at season's end when his playing contracts expires.

But before this happens, I also anticipate that Danny Ainge will make a trade so that the Celtics will acquire assets........and all of the preceding falls in line with Jackie's "A TRADE WILL HAPPEN" quote.

Please stop the ragging on JMac.

I agree completely, LB.

(Though I don't know just how limited the current market for Rondo might be, and whether Danny will be able to make a trade more valuable than just letting him walk, a S&T, or hope-against-hope stalling for a blockbuster to keep him and land another star next summer.)

There seems to be a lot of inference on the specific preferences Rondo holds. I think it's simpler and more likely Rondo did indeed express his interests. But Jackie embellished a bit because that's what they do.

Reporters are gossipers. Gossipers like juicier stories, cut and dry, easy to express in a few sentences or statements on television. Jackie is not above this. She signed up to join the greatest offender of this in sports. She just happened to get caught a little off guard by the backlash this time. It happens. I think it's right to rag on her though. Keeps them honest. Or at least attempts to.

She didn't just say Rondo wanted out.  She said Rondo told the Celtics he wanted out.  If a major sorts star tells his team "I want out"...WHAT IN THE WORLD CAN THAT POSSIBLY MEAN EXCEPT "TRADE ME"?

I saw the video.  Jackie clearly wasn't implying that Rondo saying "I want out...unless you guys improve the team".  She wasn't implying Rondo said "I want out...unless you pay me the max".  It was "I want out...so trade me or I'll walk".

And the reason why this is a big deal is because no one else has ever come close to reporting Rondo saying something like that to Celtics management.

It's one thing to argue over what she said.  You can't have a reasonable argument if people pretend she said something she did not say.

Isn't it obvious?  If he doesn't want to be traded but still wants out, then the OP must be saying that Rondo wants to retire.

I don't think we should be upset at her either. She's just reporting... Its Ainge and Rondos fault that they are in this situation where the team isn't good enough for him to sstay, not Jackies fault.

You're supposed to use the context of what she didn't say.  Otherwise you miss the retirement request.

She never reported or stated that she had a source for the claim either.
