10. Joel Anthony will come into camp in 2010-2012 form and provide improved contribution vs last season
9. AB will have his first healthy season
8. Marcus Thornton and Evan Turner will provide consistent scoring off the bench.
7. Rondo will be top 3 in the league in assists per game
6. KO and Sully will both avg 13-14 pts , 8 reb a game
5. Tyler Zeller will have a breakout year as a starting center
4. Celtics will have one of the leagues best defensive backcourt group
3. Marcus Smart will be and excel as the go to scorer in the 4th
2. Brad Stevens will be a candidate for coach of the year award
1. Celtics will make 8th place
I'll play along. Here's my 10:
1. Rondo will have recovered from his surgery and play close to pre-injury level
2. Jeff Green will have a better than average year for himself as he plays for his last big contract when he opts out after this year (to get that payday that Hayward and Parsons got). May play well enough to be traded at the dealine for a contender looking for that last piece. (would expect Danny to take back a poor player on an expiring deal with a young player and a pick in exchange)
3. Danny makes 1-2 trades before the start of the season to make use of the non-guaranteed deals to acquire a more-useful player (anticipating overpaid back-up center) and one of Fav, Bass or Anthony rather than cutting those 3 non-guaranteed players to make the roster limit
4. Young spends the year in Maine. Puts up decent numbers - enough for most people to think he'll be a contributor next year.
5. Sully and KO will have improved over last year on mostly on offense but at least some marginal improvements on D as well.
6. Thornton, Turner and Wallace will grumble about playing time before the deadline passes. None of them will have played well enough to justify it though.
7. Smart will be a solid defender from the beginning but will struggle on offense this season.
8. AB will still be gunning and drawing a lot of criticism for it as he did this past season. many will complain Danny overpaid and should have let him walk.
9. Opening Night starting line-up: Rondo, AB, Green, Sully, Zeller. Primary bench: Smart, KO, Turner, Thornton, Bass. Anthony and Pressey on deep bench. Young in Maine. Fav and soon-to-be-acquired player in street clothes. -->depends on who's sent out in deal in #3
10. C's end up with the 3rd worst record at the end of the season ahead of only Philly and Utah. C's get the 4th pick in the draft as someone with a better record leapfrogs them in the lottery again. 4th slot is still high enough to get a high-quality center prospect in the next draft.
