With the front page story and so much talk about Celtics assets moving forward -- and since the litany of assets keeps swimming around randomly in my head, I thought I'd put down in writing the assets that I see as having some trade value moving into the season and to the trade deadline.

I did not include Wallace, Vitor, Anthony, Babb, CJ or Phil.  I could not find info on whether we currently have a trade exception available (though I thought we had aquired a 4M or so TE recently??).

Also included all draft picks in the next 4 drafts.

Player Assets:

Value depends upon the eye and the needs of the beholder, but I gave a shot at rank order of possible player trade value projecting how I think players will perform in the first months of the season.  This is not an order I'd stand by or defend.

               Salary    Years Remaining
1. Rajon Rondo       13M      1 (exp)
2. Marcus Smart      3M      5 (Rookie Contract)
3. Jared Sullinger   1.5M      4 (Rookie Contract)
4. Kelly Olynyk       2M      4 (Rookie Contract)
5. Avery Bradley    8M (?)   4
6. Jeff Green      9M      2 (1 Year plus player option)
7. Brandon Bass      7M      1 (exp)
8. Evan Turner       4M (?)   1 (exp)
9. Marcus Thornton   8.5M      1 (exp)
10. Tyler Zeller      2M      3 (Rookie Contract)
11. James Young   1.5M      5 (Rookie Contract)
12. Keith Bogans   5M      1 (non-guaranteed -- unsure how much longer this is an asset)

Draft Picks:

2015:
Boston #1
LA Clippers #1
Boston #2 (Cleveland gets this only if the pick is 56-60)
Philadelphia #1 (if Philly makes the playoffs
Philadelphia #2 (if Philly does not make the playoffs)
Sacramento #2 (if Sac gets pick 56-60 – highly unlikely)
Washington #2 (if Wiz gets pick 50-60 – possible)

2016:
Boston #1
Brooklyn #1
Cleveland #1 (if Cleveland gets pick 11-30)
Philadelphia #2 (if Philly does not make the playoffs in 2015)

2017:
Better of Boston’s and Brooklyn’s #1
Boston’s #2 (Note: If Boston swaps #1’s with Brooklyn, Boston will send its #2 to Brooklyn, but only if the pick is 46-60; otherwise Boston keeps its #2)

2018:
Boston #1
Brooklyn #1
Boston #2
Sacramento #2 (if Sac gets pick 56-60)

Man that's a pretty terrible roster for winning right now.

applaud the work, thanks!

but I will add that none of those are "assets" if no one wants them.

Oh lots of teams would really like to acquire what Boston has. High draft picks in particular always have value.

Teams just aren't going to surrender an all star for them at this time. And Ainge isn't going to unload the valuable chips for role players.

Only one star was on the trade market this summer: Kevin Love. The a Celtics were outbid. Andrew Wiggins is a big ol' chip. So it's time to develop the talent, gather more chips, make small moves until the next star wants out of his current team.

Better than  what DA had before although we don't have a PP which hurts.

There are some people on this forum that arent willing to include first round picks in big trade packages.. I still cant see why anyone would want to keep half a dozen first-rounders for the next three years.
Has any team ever made it into contention with 7 guys that they've drafted in a 4 year span??

Meaning that it is preserved and placed on top of the main threads section. I forgot that Celticsblog doesnt use the same forum software as other forums I frequent also.
