I don't know that much about what you can or cannot do as far as players being signed so I will ask the question.
At this point can the Celtics still make some kind of deal to re-sign Paul Pierce??? I know he just signed with the Wizards but is a deal still possible. because if that can happen and with some very little maneuvering the Celtics are contenders right now!!!
Think about it before you have me dragging a cross up the street.

This team needs much more than one addition to become a contender.  The center position is still a joke and they don't have a legitimate #1 scoring threat.  Not to mention, this team is awfully green at the moment.

But, I agree with Dons:  this team needs more than one addition.  Prime Pierce couldn't make this team a contender.  Heck, I'm not sure if Prime Shaq or Prime Duncan could.

Seriously though, why do you think that one addition would make us contenders when a PP two years younger, along with KG's knees when they still had some life in them, weren't?

A lot of us liked the idea of having Pierce back on the team...but only as a veteran bench player, at a reasonable price, to help some of our young guys develop into the next generation of Celtic greats. 

Time has a way of turning our great players from nightly Top 10 Plays into searching for year's old video on You Tube.  Sadly, Paul Pierce, and KG, are going through that now.  Things are winding down for both.

This team is 3 years away from being a legit title team. Young guys need time to develop into good players.They need a leader and who knows if Rondo is that guy that will be with us into the next era of Celtics Basketball.

I disagree with that. Prime Shaq would obviously make us contenders.

I think we need a big man who can protect the rim and a scorer who shows up every night and who can shoot.   RR is fine as pg.   Green and Bradley are servicable rotation guys.   Sully might do better at PF if he can get his act together.   But we need two additions to make this a solid playoff team and a star or two to get a title. I don't know how the rook will do but both look like they will play hard.

I think if we had all time additions.   I would want Bird and Russell on this team.  If guys outside the C's Bird and Hakeem.

I guess the reason I think Pierce would make a difference now is because all along I have thought that the Celtics team, as a whole, is a lot better this year than a lot of you on this board. most of you are leaning towards the lottery and tanking.  I see Rondo and Bradley finally playing the way they should together.  I also see Jeff Green getting his head out of his butt and having a breakout year by playing the way we know he can every night. I also see Tyler Zeller playing way better than anybody here thinks he can because he didn't get the chance in Cleveland to play the minutes the kid needs. if everything aligns the way I see it along with Sully and Kelly and the other talent we have in Smart, Young, Vitor, Pressey and if you were able to throw PP in from the bench, you tell me that Paul wouldn't be motivated to play out his career in Boston.

This team suffered last year but I think they have also grew and with a little luck from the injury Gods they will be a lot better than some of you are giving them credit for!!!!

I wish I could be as optimistic as you, DesertDweller.  The 2014 Celtics are more than one player away, and an old Paul Pierce sure as heck isn't that man. 

I guess we stay tuned for the big trade or Danny's building through the draft.  Either way, it's going to be a while to be where we were just 3-4 years ago.
