If he doesn't get traded to Cleveland, it is really really doubtful he will end up there as a free agent.
1) There are numerous cap obstacles for him to get there. If salary cap experts want to post the exact details that is cool, but basically between the irving extension and Lebron, the rookie deal for Wiggins, bennetts contract, possible extensions for waiters and thompson there just is not room for a max level contract without major cap gymnastics
2) He will almost certainly get traded mid-season and whatever team gets him is only doing a trade if he resigns with them
3) The outside chance he doesn't get trade is because minnesota shocks the world and makes a playoff run in which case he would probably resign
Anything is possible, but people seem obsessed with the idea of the Love to Cavs and looking at their rosters there really aren't a lot of trades that makes sense. Also, Lebron wanted to be on a team with depth and youth because the three headed monster approach really didn't work out in the end in Miami. Locking up three players to max contracts erodes a teams depth and ability to put quality backups behind the stars.
