Couldn't we deal Smart or Young as well? The would make the deal much more enticing for the Wolves who could use one of those guys.

I wouldn't even wanna involve Smart with a trade involving Love. I assume Minny wants at least one proven player and young prospects in return. Along with future picks. Young, AB and Olynyk could fill that want but its looking as if that's just not in Flips vision

interesting that a report came out today that both the TImberwolves and Celtics are interested in Evan Turner.

I wonder if Ainge is thinking of making it a 3 team deal to send Turner to the wolves.

I'm not knowledgeable about these stuff but I don't think we can trade Smart (for a certain period of time) because we just signed him.

I think the soonest we could trade them is mid August. Can anyone confirm this ?

Yup, that's what Minny wants so C's can't compete with that. If CLE won't do it, Love stays with Minny till trade deadline.

The T-Wolves seem to be in waiting mode:

Quote
The Timberwolves, according to sources, are willing to be patient in these trade talks. They believe the teams in pursuit of Love, including the Cavs and the Golden State Warriors, may not be as good now as those teams think they are and will ultimately meet their price — Wiggins from the Cavs or Klay Thompson from the Warriors.

If the Celtics want to be a significant player, Ainge probably needs to turn some of those picks into a young wing on a rookie scale contract who Minnesota perceives to be at least as good as Klay Thompson.  It's not hard to find someone who you think is better than Klay Thompson.  It's probably hard to find someone who Flip Saunders thinks is better than Klay Thompson.  Let's not even narrow it down to players who might be available.  Who fits that description, period?

If I was Cleveland I would keep Wiggins. I think they can compete easily without Love.

I think the Cle statements about keeping Wiggins are true and to me it makes sense.  I also believe that they have a longer view than just a year or two.  Seems like the Cavs can just wait and sign Love and still have plenty of window to win a championship in the next say 4 years.  I also don't think LeBron is going anywhere.

I don't think GSW are going to give up the farm, Houston has nothing to offer, I just don't see Love going anywhere.  It is the same problem that the Celtics appear to have with trading Rondo.  Teams are kind of done.  Options are off the table.

I think one team that may initiate something is Indiana starting with Rondo going there, Hibbert going to Minni, Love going to Cleve, and young players from Cle going to Boston plus maybe picks going to Minni.  I actually think Hibbert would be good for the Cavs as well so you could cut Minni out of it and still do something similar. (Note:  I recognize a trade this complicated is very unlikely).

Detroit could start something too (involving Rondo but not Love) with Smith going to Sac, maybe Rondo to Sac too, we get McLemore, Thompson; Detroit gets Derrick Williams/Jason Terry, pick (plus signs Monroe).  I don't think Smith has great value, a view Detroit may not share.

The problem for both Minni and Boston is that there is a risk that you get absolutely nothing for Rondo or Love and they both go sign with LAL.  They both risk overvaluing their assets and watching them walk.  That would set either team back big time.

If I'm Cleveland... I'll trade Wiggins for Love instantly... why limit yourself with an unproven rookie where you can get a proven all star player

The Cav's can "compete" in the East without Love, but I don't see them beating the West as is. Not unless they add another piece, Kryie makes a huge leap, or Wiggins is far better than I expect him to be the first two years.
