Green is better than the average small forward, he is worth Vonleh and THEIR future first.
I think this season he's gonna do 20ppg
This is a super-homer comment that is simply not true.
What GM is giving up an 18 year old 6'10" monster with shooting ability, dribble drive game and low post game on a rookie scale contract for Jeff Green?
Our team isn't a contender, we need to dump guys like Green and Bass to playoff teams. They just stint the development of our young guys and assets.
Go over to RealGM and post the idea of Green for Vonleh+Charlotte pick and see the reaction.
I don't mean to be an a$$ but never in a million years does a trade like that happen.
Not really a super homer comment. Green is a very good SF on a reasonable contract. Look at what Parsons and Gordon are getting, and while there are arguments on assists and consistency being better, is it really 6 or 7 million better?
Will Green average 20ppg? Probably not, but I could see him going up a couple points to 16 or 17.
Charlotte is a playoff team, and with Micheal Jordan as the GM, I wouldn't be surprised if he made a move like this. They finally got to the playoffs, Jefferson only has an other year or he could bolt, so they are going to want to make him happy by improving. Rookies aren't going to do that.
Now that being said. Charlotte's biggest weakness is the SF spot, followed by the PF. While Vonleh could have a bright future, the Hornets are trying to win now, not later and may not want to wait 3 years for him to be ready. This is why GM's trade high potential for good serviceable talent. They need to get the team to the playoffs to make the owners more money.
Now Green,Sully to the Hornets would make sense. It would give the Hornets a SF thats needed. And a young PF that can play now. The only thing is the Hornets don't have anything contract wise that works with out taking on too many players. We're trying to cut some players not add. Henderson and Neal are SG's and we don't need any more of those. Taylor's contract wont work. I'm not interested in MKG. So I think a third team would have to be involved for this to really work.
