The Celtics acquire Tyler Zeller, Marcus Thornton and the Cavaliers' 2016 first round pick. Boston will have $33 million in contracts coming off the books in Thornton, Rajon Rondo, Brandon Bass and Joel Anthony.
33 mil in cap space... to be honest, I don't think Danny is done here...I believe he will continue to shed as much salary as possible. Even if he didn't, he can trade people via Bradley or the Green
33 alone can re-sign Rondo (hopefully for cheap), and another star roughly around the 15 mil range
OR (and though I'd hate to wait this long, it could be worth it and maybe its DA's long term plan) Danny clears even more space between now and next summer and goes nuts the summer of 2016. Take a look at this list of FAs for that summer
-Anthony Davis
-Kevin Durant
-Andre Drummond
-Michael Carter Williams
-Dwight Howard (I believe can opt out)
-Roy Hibbert
-Al Horford
-Damian Lillard
-Joakim Noah
-Nerlens Noel
-Deron Williams
-Brook Lopez
I just crapped my pants looking at that list...let's go on a theoretical shopping spree shall we?
Lliard/Durant/Anthony Davis/Drummond
This is going to remain theoretical, because all of those guys besides Durant are restricted and going nowhere. And Durant isn't leaving a perennial contender to come to Boston either.
