I find it amusing that after the Melo talk, they start talking about Durant. Have not heard Rondo say anything about playing with Durant, but he was all about Melo and Love.

KD's birthday party last year....lol

Just started listening.  First question they ask Rondo is whether or not LeBron James should have doubts about staying in Miami.

Rondo comments that Bron should definitely have doubts.  It's not about making it to the finals it's about winning.  HE comments, if he was LeBron, he'd have some doubts about staying in Miami.

What's that say about Rondo himself that he feels that way?  DOesn't that kinda prove that this dude isn't sticking around after this season unless we have a title contender in place?  Chances of us putting together a title contender is somewhere between slim and none.  And this is why you can't rule out the possibility of Ainge trading Rondo next week.

I love Rondo but him on TV is a cringe-fest. Your talents are on the courts brother, keep it that way!  :P

Absolutely.  It's incontrovertible evidence.

I mean seriously, though...  He's sitting here saying Bron should bail on Miami, because he doesn't have enough help (even though they just made the Finals)... If we have another 30 win season (likely), I can't see ROndo sticking around.  He clearly wants to play for a winner.

You certainly didn't hear Rondo say, "no that's his team... he should stick it out... like I am"

Rondo seems pretty confident that Ainge will put a contender around him this season.  THat's still a possibility, but if that doesn't happen... You comfortable he's stickin around?

No.  Like I said, it's an open and shut case; he's definitely leaving.  Trade him for the rights to Walter Tavares while we can still get something.

Sarcasm aside, I took Rondo's comments about James as purely a textbook example of schadenfreude.  I think Rondo is just immensely enjoying the current misfortunes of Lebron and the Heat, and is trying to rub it in.

I'm not reading any more into it than that.

How uncomfortable is this interview...

Hill:  "Rondo has a Player Efficiency of 17.1 since entering the league... that ranks 22nd amongst point guards, but to the naked eye, you ARE a top 5 point guard... the numbers... just don't quite... add up.  And some would say they're lying, but on this show... that never happens (show is called "Numbers Never Lie").  But tell us... are the numbers lying about you.  22nd best?!"

Rondo:  *sigh*... "It's gotta be lying... something wrong with the numbers... system or something"

Hill:  *chuckles* ... (sarcastically) "Yeah... it's broken... CLEARLY... ;) " ...

She changes the subject

Hill:  "So your contract is up next summer... do you see yourself staying in Boston?"

Rondo:  "... umm... that's the plan.  Uh, you never know what the season brings.  Uh, but as of right now I don't want to go anywhere."

Hill:  "... so is this season a litmus test?  Something you want to see the organization do (to keep you from leaving)?"

Rondo:  "Uh... I just want to win.  I wanna bring in guys who are willing to win.  Guys who are competitive and want to win just as well as I do... so...  I believe Danny Ainge will do that."

We joke, Celtics18, but this actually does seem like pretty conclusive evidence, if you ask me.  No fireworks = 30 wins = goodbye Rondo.   We either bring in guys who can help Rondo win (Love and Melo seem to be his dream)... or at the soonest opporunity, he leaves for a team in a better position to be competitive.

I think right now Rondo has faith in Ainge (he should... Ainge is awesome), but it seems there's a lot of pressure on Ainge to put together a competitive team ASAP... and if it doesn't look like he can do that (say, for example, we trade up to take a redshirted Embiid), I think Ainge has to look really hard at moving Rondo before he loses him for nothing.

I actually took it that way as well.  IE the heat, lebron, wade and bosh edged us in the 2012 playoffs, wade dislocated my shoulder in 2011 so I am going to really enjoy suggesting they break up their team.

I've never thought that landing a big star like Love or Anthony is essential to getting Rondo to stay in Boston once he becomes a free agent--although, I'd certainly be all for landing one or both of those guys.

In the event that the big, splashy trade doesn't work out, I still think Ainge will have a good shot of improving the team enough to convince Rondo that the team is on the right path and can get back into contention while Rondo is on his next contract.

No matter what happens, it promises to be an exciting off-season.

Much more meaningful than all the times he's talked about wanting to stay with the team.

Other things he said:

On his future in Boston, he said he doesn?t plan on going anywhere and wants to bring in guys to Boston that want to compete and want to win as much as he does
He said Boston is a great city and has great fans: ?They?re the greatest in the world?
He thinks having 3 star players is enough to contend, would rather play against the best competition

I think Rondo does genuinely want to stay in Boston.  I don't think he'll leave if the team is not stacked.  As long as there is enough talent to compete or a plan to compete, I think he stays.  Also, we have until next summer to add the necessary pieces to convince him to stay.
