Here's another team to think about.   Orlando.  Word is the Celtics will try to trade up.  Some suggest it's to sweeten the pot for Minny but what if Ainge just wants a higher pick (which is what I feel).  Everyone assumes Orlando is going to draft Exum.  Well, would they rather have Rondo, an established vet all-star?  How about Rondo and 17 for 4?  The Celtics then take Exum at 4 and then whoever they want at 6 (preferably not another undersized power forward).

I've long hoped we could Orlando involved in talks for Rondo.  Their owner is approaching 90 years old, and has long stated he wants to see a winner.  Let's light this candle, Danny.

That team has trouble winning 20 games for 3-4 years.
This is the nuclear option. Tough to believe that Danny and Wyc want to go that route when everything they've said seems to indicate the opposite. However,  CelticsBlog demands it so what does it look like? After the trade of Rondo and the 17th pick (I?m skeptical of this bit of wisdom, but it doesn?t change the equation much if you bring another rookie into a total rebuild) for the 8th pick and McLemore (and JET or Willams and Outlaw to make the salaries fit.  The deal can't be done before 7/1 with Terry in it). Roster would be:

PG Smart, Pressey
SG Bradley, McLemore, Terry
SF Green, Wallace, Outlaw
PF KO, Gordon, Bass
C Sully, Faverani, Anthony

14 players. Roughly 53-54+ million in cap with 2 rookies pushing the unguarantees off the team and AB getting a new deal. I see fewer than 20 wins next year and we should have a very high lottery pick. McLemore had a historically bad year as a rookie, but he?s a rookie so he might flourish elsewhere. JET is toast. ( Williams instead might be around for a while, but he?s bench material and we have 4 PFs already).

Execellent chance that this roster would generate the worst record in the NBA particularly with a rookie PG. So a guaranteed high lottery pick for 2015.  With the 2015 free agent class coming up, probably shut out of the top tier of free agents given that we'll be a terrible team and there being a lot of free cap floating around because everyone's been aiming for 2015. Unless KO or Sully are stars in their 2nd and 3rd year respectively (or Gordon/Smart as rookies), we won't have a top tier player asset. I think both KO and Sully may be very good players, but tough to picture All-star status next season.  Maybe 1 long-term. I don't see any player assets attractive enough to get a tier-1 FA in 2015. Picks alone won't attract top tier players. Better off waiting until the 2016 FA class, but you're still looking at a very bad year in 2015-16 too.

You're not attracting top tier FAs right away until you get someone to pair them with that you?ve developed internally. I think it's safe to say that for the next 2 years you'll clearly at the very bottom of the NBA. So it's a matter of how well Danny drafts.  He's a better than average drafter, but he's had misses too.  In the meanwhile we will likely have given up on PP's TPE and Bogan's unguaranteed contract.  Can't see doing the Asik/Linn deal or any other if we're in tank mode for a couple of years. I would guess that 4 years before we compete for a playoff spot too.  Maybe more. Who knows as far as contending?

we use our 6th pick on Aaron gordon. 8th pick( which we get from sacramento for rondo) to get smart. Use our  17th pick and couple second rounders to move up to like 15 and draft saric were he will fall because he said he only wants to play for the celtics and laker. he will also fall because he played in a foreign league.
The reason saric said he's only be playing for the celtics or lakers is because he thinks he's gonna be picked by the 6th or 7th pick, where the salary is similar to what he's getting paid playing overseas. I doubt he's gonna play for us if we picked him at 15 or 17.

Why wouldn't they take Exum like everyone predicts (or even Smart).  Rondo's better, but a lot more expensive, and the Magic are rebuilding and know it.

Chad Ford and others think the only trade down candidate are the Cavs FWIW. Every team from 5-9 are rumored to be open to trade downs or trades for vets because none of Vonleh, Randle, Smart, or Gordon (the average draft ranking of these guys) are viewed as future All-Stars.  The strength of the draft is from 9 to the low 20s where the talent is pretty close to the guys at 5-8.  Makes sense for UTA who have 5 starters. Makes sense for DA since we have a PG and 3 PFs. Makes sense especially for LAL to pair a vet with Kobe. SAC has already offered the 8. And CHA can get a shooter past 10 easily enough in McDermott, Harris, Young, or Hood .

In response to you saying Rondo can't shoot: http://grantland.com/the-triangle/courtvision-everything-you-think-you-know-about-rondos-shooting-is-wrong/

I'm not saying he is a good shooter, but saying he can't shoot isn't true.

Also, he has NEVER said he wanted max money. I don't know why so many people regurgitate the same things about Rondo.

I don't need to watch a puff piece about Rondo's shooting. And your right Rondo can shoot....layups great.

1. You aren't watching anything. It's an article.

2. If you took two minutes to actually read the article you would see why you're wrong. This would lead to you becoming a more informed fan and hopefully spewing less crap about Rondo.

This just makes you look like an elitist . Its so funny when people come on the internet and brag how informed they are. I read the article, and its nothing I did not pick up from watching Rondo his whole career. Although, it did make my point. Rondo is great at layups

Uhg.

This isn't a me vs. you thing. We're both Celtics fans. I didn't say I was a more informed fan, or even an informed fan. I said IF you read that article you could become a more informed fan. Please don't distort what I said.

The article didn't just talk about layups either, come on.
ehhh
Ok..it kind of seemed you were getting a little personal...Its all good. Its late and i just saw "a million ways to die in the west"...I'll even give you a tp

*palm face*

Sorry but your argument is ridiculous.  He laid out a very good and reasonable argument (yes I read his posts) but you weren't ready nor willing to listen and look at it from his perspective, instead you said he's taking it personal (which he's clearly was not).
