Flip Saunders has stated publicly that Kevin Love is not for sale, and the Minnesota Timberwolves general manager intends to have the meandering star on his roster next season.

Though suitors like the Celtics are nevertheless preparing to make pre-draft offers for Love, Saunders? private actions are only now starting to separate from his public comments, and, according to a league source, the GM has slowly opened the window to start taking offers.

The Celtics, as of yesterday, had yet to make an offer, though they are prepared to do so in a package that will almost surely include the No. 6 pick in the June 26 NBA draft.

The source added that C?s president of basketball operations Danny Ainge and his staff are at least momentarily focused on investigating players who will be available at No. 6, with a series of high-profiled workouts scheduled for next Thursday and Friday.

Ainge reportedly also has contacted two unspecified teams in the five slots above his pick about trading up for the most intriguing prospects in the draft. He has also taken a marginal number of calls from teams interested in the sixth pick.

General managers are also attempting to interpret the point of Love?s visit to Boston last weekend, which included a Red Sox game. The Chicago Bulls, Golden State Warriors, New York Knicks and Los Angeles Lakers are all interested.

?All I know is that Jeff Schwartz is a Red Sox fan,? the source said of Love?s agent.

The part of trading up is interesting. Perhaps this is to still trade that pick to the Wolves, but obviously it would have a larger appeal.

The looking into trading up and trading down is part of DA's job. He has to look into every possible situation. I don't see s senario where trading up happens unless Orlando really likes Smart and knows he will be there at #6. (#6+KO+future 2nds for #4 and draft Exum).

I think Love is plan A,

If plan A fails I wouldn't be shocked to see the Kings trade up to #6 to draft smart. Leaving the Cs at #8 to draft Gordon or Saric and add some type of future asset.

I'd pour a couple of those lesser 1st rounders Danny has stashed into the opportunity to land Embiid.

why would you have to include KO?  You include the 17th (and get a late 1st or early 2nd back in addition to the 4) could also get away by just giving up a future protected 1st

And i agree if the Magic don't care if it's exum or smart the trade could workout
