Celts get -
Ersan Ilyasova
OJ Mayo
Jeremy Lin
Larry Sanders

Rockets get -
Rondo

Milwaukee gets-
Jeff Green
Brandon Bass
Omer Asik

The give and take for the Celts

The take for me (just my opinion) is this actually makes the Celts a good team and competitive for the upcoming season and beyond.

The give is taking Ilyasova's contract. Looks like he has another 3 years left on that contract.

For the Bucks, they get cap relief but also are on a very long-term rebuild. The other thought here is if the Cavs draft Embiid, the Bucks draft Wiggins thus rendering Mayo redundant.

The Rockets get Rondo to pair up with Harden and Howard.

Back to the Celts, they get a legit center and a pretty good player in OJ. Plus (IMO) Ilyasova is better than Green.

Thoughts?

This would be horrible. We'd be stuck in mediocrity. This does not improve our team short or long term.
PHX Suns: Russell Westbrook, Chris Bosh, Tristan Thompson, Trevor Ariza, Tony Allen, Trey Lyles, Corey Brewer, Larry Nance Jr., Trey Burke, Troy Daniels, Joffrey Lauvergne, Justin Holiday, Mike Muscala, 14.6

How so?

I mean I guess you can cut Milwaukee out of the equation and just do Rondo for Lin and Asik, but I'd rather have Sanders and Mayo

Wait, what? We move our best player, a good player on an expiring contract, and an above-average wing for Milwaukee's 3 highest paid underachievers and Jeremy Lin?

Does Milwaukee have naked pictures of us?

If they did, I know I wouldn't want to see them

Dude. Houston is practically giving those guys away for cap room, and you want to trade Rondo for them?

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
Yeah, not to pile on, but this would be a nightmare for the Cs. I didn't like the Rondo for Stephenson deal in the other thread, but this is worse. I agree that it wouldn't take much from Houston to get Asik AND Lin (less than if we just wanted Asik) and Milwaukee's (worst team in the league) extra players on iffy contracts don't really excite me.

Really, the only deal I would seriously consider for Rondo is the Sac deal involving McLemore, Thomas, and the #8. I guess something for Harden or a similar all-star type player would be interesting, but I like Rondo and don't want to watch him tear it up on another team while we struggle.

I think he's talking about how we'd be fighting for the 7th or 8th seed for the foreseeable future.

Ilyasova: 11.2 ppg, 6.2 rbs, 40.9% shooting percentagge, 28% from 3 and he missed 27 games this season. No, he is not better than Jeff Green.

No offense taken.

It's what happens when you're bored and in front of your computer
