Rondo and Vitor and future lottery protected pick for Burke and the expiring contracts of Williams and Rush.
Could that be expanded with Green and the 17 pick for a resigned Hayward. Separate trade?
Burke, Bradley, Hayward, Sullinger, Olynyk plus picks 5 and 6? Randle or Vonleh at 5? Young, McDermott, LaVine, or Stauskas at 6?
I don't think the Jazz budge on that trade.
Hopefully we won't either, unless we're hoping to hang out in the lottery for quite a while.
Hate to break it to you, but barring a significant move (Love?) we will be in the lottery with or without Rondo.
I mean, I think it's plausible that Ainge could make moves for Afflalo and Asik this off-season and the Celtics would be a playoff team in this conference. But that's not a major accomplishment.
I expect the team to be in the lottery for another couple of seasons, unless there's a blockbuster trade.
I doubt Ainge will allow the Celtics to be in the lottery for that long.......
This line of thinking assumes the GM can simply decide whether or not the team makes the playoffs. Maybe it is as simple as making a couple of moves for veterans (like Asik and Afflalo). But doing so might mean giving up far more assets than is reasonable.
