Don't really see how anything has changed.

If the pick had been top three, Ainge would have kept it.

Slipping one slot from 5 to 6 makes no meaningful difference.
Also, plenty of fans kept warning us over the past month that our most likely pick was statistically #6.  The odds said we'd end up #6, because it was most likely at least 1 team picking 6-14 would jump into the Top 3.   How can anyone over-react to something we'd basically expected to happen since the season ended for us?   At least one team was going to leapfrog us... I'm just glad it wasn't the Lakers.

It was refreshing to hear the Lakers name called first until the Celtics were then called. lol

All in all it's not that bad considering is is a really deep draft but for once it would be would have been nice to get just a little luck in the lottery. For all the misery Cleveland sports have it's pretty ridiculous they have won the lottery 3 out of 4 years.

Still good to be ahead of the Lakers. If Smart is still on the board at #6, I think Ainge could get a good return for the pick from a team looking to get him before the Lakers can.

I'm pulling for Aaron Gordon. I think he can be a long term solution at the three.

Gordon is like the anti Jeff Green.  They're the same size, play the same position, and are very athletic.  Except Green is far more skilled and Gordon plays with a high energy/intensity and does all the little things that Green fails to do.

Oh well. When push comes to shove, a no. 6 pick is a pretty good asset and I trust Danny to draft very well.

Even if we had to take #10 I would still be more mad that Cleveland won the lotto again and they didn't even have the Gilbert kid there!! Darn shame!
It takes me 3hrs to get to Miami and 1hr to get to Orlando... but I *SPIT* on their NBA teams! "Bless God and bless the (Celts)"-Lady GaGa (she said gays but she really meant Celts)

Like so many others have said, we were always most likely to end up with the 6th pick. The big get for us is that no other team in the running for a big name--Kevin Love most likely, but who knows who becomes available--via trade leapfrogged us.

The Celtics have the ability to put together the most attractive package, short- and long-term, should they want to go get someone, which was helped tonight by maintaining a better draft position in comparison to other potential suitors.

Thanks for the optimism, but I have to disagree.  There's really is no point in having all these draft picks if we're just gonna get screwed in the lottery.

Kevin Love will not make us a contender.

Rondo is not a player you build around.

The cavs, on the other hand, are sitting pretty.  As well as any other team besides us, because I can't think of another team that has gotten as hosed as we do in the lottery.

I think that Smart, Exum and/or Randle will be there (maybe all 3 if it goes Embiid, Parker, Wiggins, Vonleh, Gordon) -- all will have potential suitors.  Not impossible to pick up something extra while moving down 3 or 4 picks and still get an equal value player.
